The Bruery Provisions
Orange, CA

Hazy golden with a moderate near-white head that leaves dots of lace on the way down. Looks very thin.

Wheat, simple grain, and a touch of kumquat presence in the aroma. Everything is well integrated but mild. Nice enough.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with wheat and grain leading the way, with just a bit of fruit character. Simple.

Thin bodied with low to moderate carbonation. Very water-like.

Decent enough salvaging of a beer that didn't turn out right.

On tap at the Bruery tasting room that was staffed like a wal mart (i.e. tons of customers, very few employees, long lines).

Pours looking like one of the lightest, thinnest yellow colored beers ever. Calling it yellow isn't even accurate, its what yellow looks like after you pour a bunch of water into it. No head on it. Really doesn't look impressive at all. Utter failure.

Aroma, ugh, what the dillio? This smelled bad. Like if you let a garden product just rot. and sulfur was coming out of it. Squash, wheat, pumpkin, whatever, it had the rotting smell to it. Like really bad funk. Tasted a little better, the horrible aroma and appearance are left behind, mild watered down lemon and wheat notes. Approaching beer territory. Bland, but still has kind of a brackish off putting mouthfeel and aftertaste.

I don't know what this is, an abomination of the awesome hottenroth seems to be the most fitting answer.

While I'm definitely a Bruery loyalist, this beer reveals my allegiance to only go so far. . .

On tap at the Bruery from a randall filled with strawberries.

A: Pours a hazy, grapefruit-skin yellow with an initial 1/4" fine white head which fades to the rim leaving no lace behind.

N: Kumquats, yeast, grainy wheat, lemon citrus, and faint berries with some dry hay notes.

T: Wheaty yeast, citrus, grassy, and trace sour strawberry.

M: Thin as rice paper. Kind of like rinse water. Super light body and fine carbonation. Crisp and clean.

O: The wheat compliments the kumquats with the low ABV. Just too bland and weak for me.

On-tap at the Bruery

The pour is a cloudy straw color with a small white head. A very strong kumquat aroma and just very citric overall. There is a mild grass and quite a bit of citrus peel aroma. Somewhat reminiscent of orange and grapefruit juice. The flavor starts off with sweet citrus and a mild acidity that intensifies as the beer warms up. Lots and lots of kumquat with a fair amount of grapefruit as well. A touch of grass some yeast and lots of wheat, though not a very malty flavor.
