On tap at the new tasting room.

A: Pours a hazy/murky dark orangish-brown with a 1/4-inch fine off-white head which lasts long and leaves some random lace.

N: Fruit and barrel notes with a faint sweetness. Belgian yeast, grain and some earthy tones.

T: Mildly sour combines with fruit (plums) and oak tannins. Seems like candi sugar and yeast also contribute on the finish.

M: Semi-full body with moderate carbonation. Slightly sweet and sour. ABV is not evident.

O: Well, this is O.K., but not really true to style of a quad and the sour plums clash somewhat to me.

On tap at Churchkey. Sample served in a snifter. Pours a very murky muddy brown color with a short head and just a few spots of lacing. Nose has dark fruits and a bit of plum. Flavor is semi-sweet and a bit boozy. Brown sugar and fig. Medium body; a bit creamy. Plum heavy as it warms. A bit too one-dimensional and lacking the depth of a good quad.

On-tap at The Bruery

The typical murky pour for a Bruery beer. This one is a dark-ish amber color with a khaki head. Sweet brown sugar, toffee, and caramel on the nose. A pleasant plum fruitiness on the nose with a hint of banana. Maybe a touch of vanilla and nutmeg. The flavor is very enjoyable. Nicely sweet without being overly so. Great toffee and brown sugar flavors and plenty of sweet fruits with just a hint of spice. Very well done beer from the Bruery.

Draft to 4oz snifter
@Bruery Provisions

App- A lot lighter than I was thinking. Its got a good blend of lighter browns with a little bit of red to it. The head was pretty nice and stuck around for a bit with some soft dots of lace.

Smell- This was a good quad aroma. Lots of dark fruits and strong whispy booze and the plums added a whole nother level it. A bit creamy and sour on the nose.

Taste- It's a quad and has the regular high ABV of a quad but this was a good blend of flavors and plums. I got a ton of cherry off of it but also more of a brandy vibe as well. A touch of earthy sour and a little bit of mushroom. Tasted good.

Mouth- More of a full medium body with a lower medium carbonation. Residual brandy cherry flavors.

Drink- It was a nice quad. Big flavors and bold ABV. Needs a bit more smoothness and balance, but I enjoyed it.

On tap at provisions

A: Pours a ruddy brown color with a thin creamy head.

S: Nailed it on the smell. Lots of rich dark fruit notes. Jammy plum, banana, date an raisin.

T: Pretty solid. Lots of plum and red cherries with a bit of a cherry skin sourness on the finish.

On tap at The Bruery in Placentia, CA.

Pours a murky and turbid brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks and dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, dark fruit, candi sugar, and spice. Taste is much the same with a slightly sour aftertaste. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it smells better than it tastes in my opinion.

A: This has that look of a Bruery beer for sure. So murky it looks like you can almost eat it. Yellow-brown in color with about a finger of bubbly white head. 4

S: The aroma is very focused on the plums and dark fruits. It's really amazing that's all I can pull out. I have to say I quite enjoy taking whiffs of Washington OC, I just wish something else came out. 4

T: The taste is very sweet and has much more alcohol than the previous few offerings from Bluejacket. Roasty, malty, full of dark fruits and plums. Really nice balance, but on the sweeter side of the style. 4

MF: The really thick body is undercut by booze and held together with a lower than average carbonation. Very drinkable, I almost finished this before I got the review out. 4.5

Value: $4 for the taster, which is still really not bad for Churchkey (especially considering this is a Bruery beer, which are typically expensive in this area). I would probably get it again. 4

O: I thought this was great. Really nice representation of the style with a huge plum focus. The balance is great showing these two brewers put a lot of time and effort into it. 4.5

On draft at Churcheky, beer is brown and hazy with a tan head of small bubbles, moderate retention, some lacing, moderate to low carbonation.

Aroma is candy sugar and malt, mild yeastiness.

Beer is way dryer than you'd expect, I don't pick up much plums in the taste but there is a fruitiness to the beer that might mean there are plums in there. Overall it is a decent quad. Could have been heavier and less sweet, turned out to be a little too sweet and thin (oddly). I'd think about having it again.
