ABV varies by batch.

The primary component of our "White Oak" ale is a 100% barrel aged wheat wine that we affectionately refer to as "White Oak Sap." Essentially a "summer" barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, White Oak Sap is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, we've added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate...hence the name.

This is the 2021 edition: Pours light red with very good carbonation and a thin head. Aroma is bourbon and sweet malt. The ABV is also noticeably present in the aroma. Taste is sweet, nicely bodied and there is a hint of chocolate, though subtle. I am not detecting any vanilla. Most present, however, is the ABV, as this is an ABV that is the slam you into a locker and take your milk money kind. Still, this is a brew worth considering.

L-From the immediate pour. It's great. Two fingered foamy headed beer with a hazy orangish/brown body. Appealing so far to me.
S-Phenolic, sweet and boozy followed by stone fruit, such as cherry and apricot. Orange peel, phenolic spices, funkiness and malt. Warm bourbon vibes as well as some slight vanilla. Maybe some slight smokiness? Honestly smells like a high end whiskey cocktail tbh.
T- Interestingly nutty in the beginning. Some honey-like sweetness. Some sour cherry, and other notable dark fruit. Tart orange and other tropical fruits are there as well. Sour, wheaty and bitter throughout. Some bitter and sour lime is present, too. I find that amaretto is also there.
F-Pretty flat on the mouth feel. Slight carbonation is there in the beginning but the beer itself seems a bit DOA once it's pored and is sitting there.
O-A boozy, bourbon-like beer with some strong fruit, citrus/whiskey characteristics. I had a lot of fun with this beer, but I don't necessarily love it. The heavy alcohol volume is very present in the flavor and I have to take that into consideration. I love the bourbon notes and some of the minor citrusy notes I get, but it's overall a very heavy sipper.

This beer is heavy, sour, sweet, and funky. It's very much a sipper that has literally no relation to its name. (No white chocolate is found there)

Split this beer with a fellow beer junkie that likes to try weird beers that will absolutely get you drunk.

2017 Edition; it pours clear reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger thick beige/tan colored foamy head that had bubbles of all sizes in it, fading slowly and leaving minimal lacing. It smells of cherry soda, vanilla, port wine, sherry, booze drenched buttery wheat bread, sweet malt, faint caramel, leafy notes like piney hops and earthy tones. Tastes more boozy than the aroma with bourbon, faint chocolate, ginger, cocoa, port wine, cherries and/or cherry soda, vanilla, sweet malt, honey, woody notes like oak, tea leaf and dark fruit. It's flavor is a lot more complex than the nose, getting more interesting as it warms up. Wheatwine is a very underrated style of beer.

I bought this bottle in May 2017 and I'm not sure what it was like back then but it din not have much chocolate going on at this point, and minimal vanilla flavoring. There was no alcohol burn, but I could sense this was stronger than the 13.8% ABV listed on the bottle. I enjoyed this and would certainly have it again.

Pours a murky orange, light collar of off-white head. Nose is boozy and bourbony, vanilla, oak, brown sugar, chocolate chip cookies. Taste is surprisingly tart and bitter at the start before warming significantly and expressing malt, toffee, and mild cinnamon and hop spice. Mouthfeel is moderate with sharp carbonation. A bit rough around the edges, but stays bitter enough to stay palatable.

Popped this bomber of Wheatwine open, poured at 53° Into a 12 oz snifter.
Deep golden brown brew with a cream colored head that manages to stay on top throughout the experience.
Smell is caramel, honey, vanilla and oak.
Taste follows - some say there is a coconut note in there, but I can’t find it.,. everything else arrives in passing hints; oak, but not bourbon, a little white chocolate, sure, cocoa powder, a dark fruit note that’s unexpected. Not over sweet.,.
Feel is very light for the style, yet balanced as it warms, a little bit of fizz remains to keep it interesting.
A cigar would be welcomed with this 14% ABV sipper.,.
Overall - I love a well made barleywine or wheatwine.
This is damn good.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of chocolate, toffee, vanilla, bourbon and oak. Sweet toffee, caramel and chocolate taste with vanilla and oak notes.

Well this was rather expensive at $16 for a tall boy can. But it's been sitting on that shelf calling my name for the last several months so i finally gave in and bought it. This is a 2021 edition, and it's now 2022. Made by the Bruery, i'm excited to try this because i like other Bruery beers. The can is blue and white, not really an artisitic design, rather boring and straightforward. But that's ok let's dive in. Poured out a golden amber color, after all this is a wheat wine ale. There is a short-lived head that dissipates on contact. An extremely lively stream of tiny bubbles are gurgling up from the center and migrating to two sides of the glass, collecting in a white ring around the glass. The beer is really alive, bubbling and simmering. Pretty cool. Well the smell is quite awesome, it's like honey and sweets, caramel apples and a slight sting of alcohol. Very inviting. The taste is a bit sour, a bit puckery, a bit pungent, but not necessarily in a bad way. Mandarin orange and apple and honey, and a very dry finish. Mouthfeel: the effervescence is absolutely brilliant, bubbly and exciting, and i think may be the best quality of this brew. Overall, it's a refreshing and unique beer. I see that they call it white chocolate because of the use of cocoa nibs and vanilla in the brew, but this is fruitier than that. I would call this more of a champagne-style beer. Pretty interesting taste and experience, the smell and bubbles really sell this beer, but the taste is not as impactful.

Boozy, flavorful, and truly a wonderful experience. The booze is definitely forward, you definitely feel it at 14%, and the mouthfeel is full-bodied and lightly thick. A great brew, not necessarily a a dessert beer but still very good.

L: big thick head, good lacing
S: I get vanilla and cocoa
T: vanilla, cocoa, some whiskey. At first sip, I get some grape flavor, that may go away when it warms up
F: all the mouthfeel is upfront
O: I’m not sure what this beer is trying to be, but I’m really not digging it

16oz can stamped PKG 02/09/21 (9 months ago) poured into a Duvel glass at 55° F 14% ABV per label. The beer pours dense dark amber in color with light khaki head. The head recedes to fat ring and single layer of bubbles. Impressive lacing for the ABV. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring sweet cacao and vanilla prominently with subtle bourbon barrel. The taste is semisweet caramel, vanilla & cacao up front with bourbon and oak barrel anchoring the finish. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with just less than medium carbonation and a somewhat dry finish. It drinks like less than 14%, but the alcohol is there in the taste as a subtle heat. Not cloying or overly sweet. Overall, excellent wheatwine.
