Notes/Commercial Description:
Confession is a true collaborative effort between the wine and beer world. A variation of our sour blonde ale, brewed in part by Fess Parker Winery, was blended and fermented with juice pressed from Parker's Riesling grapes, harvested in part by The Bruery team. The result is remarkable. Not quite beer, not quite wine. Fragrant fruit flavors warm the nose, infiltrated by a slight funk from the wild yeast. The first sip is reminiscent of a dry, white wine, but everything changes upon further examination as the flavors marinate and reveal themselves with each gulp.

With thanks to Rohan

Pours a radioactive darker yellow.

Nose is big on the vinous character. Also imparts some funk.

Extremely Riesling-esque. Quite sour, cuts out just before it gets vinegary to remind you that it's still a beer.

Good unique beer.

On tap at The Bruery Tasting Room.

Nice, straightforward golden color with with a moderate head that dissipates fairly quickly. Nose is a beautiful blend of soured green apples and not-quite-ripe grapes with distinct sweet fruit notes that I assume come from the Riesling barrels. Taste follows and adds a bit of a European funk and throat tingling tartness that really works well. Finish is particularly enjoyable as the sour notes fade to a pleasant sweetness that invites another sip.

Very nicely done. Hoarders is 2 for 2 in my book so far. Fingers crossed that the upcoming offerings can keep up...

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Very light looking yellow body. Looks like wine. No head.

Smell - White wine. Slightly acidic. Citrus.

Taste - Citrus, some oak. Tons of wine. Tastes like riesling, but not that sweet. Sourness cuts it well.

Mouthfeel - Medium low carbonation. Nice sourness.

Overall - Like Oui Oui, but better. Everyone else in my group thought it sucked, though.

2013 Vintage

Appearance: Slightly cloudy light-yellow color with a small white head that faded fairly quickly. Good looking beer but my personal preference is to have a lasting head.

Smell:Mild Barnyard funk, tart grape notes, and some mild hay aromas..

Taste: Tart grapes and white wine notes, faint citrus notes, and some slight funk notes. Very interesting and complex taste profile. Long lingering finish, which is a good thing with a tasty beer. Not very sour but more of a tart taste profile.

Mouth-feel: Light-bodied with a moderate level of carbonation.

Overall: Another tasty Bruery sour. No need to hype this, it holds up on it's own merits.

I am forced to write a review on this outstanding brew. This is probably the best all around beer I've tasted in a year. I love it. (Yes, a matter of taste but this one really works for me)

Pours golden with a fast fading white head; clear and nice looking. Nose is assertive white grapes and fruit. Very fresh, acidic and appealing.

Mouthfeel may be perfection for a person that likes sours. It is crisp, fresh, bright and welcoming. Very balanced and well rounded and a beer that you can't stop drinking.

Flavor profile is what I'll call "sour 101 on steroids." This could be the perfect introductory sour and a wonderful refreshing and drinkable light sour for the most seasoned or critical sour fan. Full of citric and acidic character the flavors are fresh fruit sour; green apples and tons of white grape/reisling tones, flavors, feel and acidity. It is sweet but not too much; it is sour but not too much. It is inviting in the extreme and wonderful with food. This is the perfect sour as an introduction to the style and yet extremely friiendly.

I don't want to age this; I don't want to collect this; I don't want to disucss it getting better with time - all not relevant. This beer is wonderful NOW. This beer is meant to be consumed and while it may change, it will never "get better" in my opinion and for me. I love the flavor profile in all respects.

Even the finish is acidic, sour, but still super balanced and nicely "grapey."

I like the Bruery and everything about the Bruery - people, site and beer. Yes, I'm a fan. However, this is one of the best that they've produced - period.

Bottle split 4 ways with MrKennedy, danieelol and mulder1010.

Lurid piss-yellow, quite opaque, with a respectable whit head that falls to a strong collar.

Strong vinous white grape overlaying bright acidic orange-lemon citric notes. Moderate vein of organic, cut grass punches through.

Doinant Riesling character, displaying the idiosyncratic dirty, sweaty, but slightly sweet sourness, leavened by lively green apple and lemon sherbet.

Immediately acidic entry. Bright and animated, with even palate distribution. The dominant Riesling influence ensures it's not overly dry.

More good stuff from the Bruery's sour range. The Riesling character wins out, but the base gueuze is solid and well integrated.
