Notes/Commercial Description:
Confession is a true collaborative effort between the wine and beer world. A variation of our sour blonde ale, brewed in part by Fess Parker Winery, was blended and fermented with juice pressed from Parker's Riesling grapes, harvested in part by The Bruery team. The result is remarkable. Not quite beer, not quite wine. Fragrant fruit flavors warm the nose, infiltrated by a slight funk from the wild yeast. The first sip is reminiscent of a dry, white wine, but everything changes upon further examination as the flavors marinate and reveal themselves with each gulp.

750ml into a tulip. The brew appears pale yellow in color with a fizzy white head that shows little retention. It holds with just a penline of lace around the edges of the glass.

The aroma is primarily white wine with some earthy brett funk and slight lacto presence. It is a pretty simple nose that is very vinous and mildly wild but fantastic nonetheless.

The taste is tart and strongly vinous with white grape skin. Some sips yield a mild grain sweetness but there is plenty of funk and earth. Some yogurt when warm with lemony lacto.

This is a light bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. A little alcohol impact but very vinous and enjoyable. It is easy drinking to say the least. As advertised, this is a hybrid of white wine and blonde wild, at times you could forget which you are drinking.

a very odd beer wine hybrid here, this one using white grapes instead of red ones, its a little more subtle, but to me is overdone, tasting more like wine than beer. moderately hazy pale yellow color, like a big chardonnay, save for the small white head and visible carbonation. the nose is white wine all the way, some oaky sweetness, and then just a bit of wheat malt to round it out. no hops or yeast at all. a little lactic funk, but its way back. the flavor is similarly dominated by the grape. its fruity and juicy, a little tart, a lot tannic, and pretty tasty, but its hard to find a beer in here. more of a fruit drink or a wine than anything. i think it needs more grain to balance the fruit, or maybe a more robust grain, there is just too much grape happening. i do like the woody mellowness to it all, and found a small glass to be the right amount of this for me. light bodied and perhaps refreshing in the right context. a good attempt, but the beer world is still waiting for a truly magical beer/wine hybrid. i dont know if a sour type beer is the right format for this either, but it makes it interesting.
