I've enjoyed the family of beers produced by The Bruery for some time now, but today I got my first chance to experience them at the place of their origin. On a quick trip North, we found out that our destination was only a few miles from The Bruery, so we had to stop. We showed up at about 1230pm and there were more people in the tasting room that I expected. It wasn't crowded by any means, but I was expecting less. Welcoming signage, well light and pleasant Bruery smells stuck out at first impression.

We strolled in and quickly ordered the taster flight. I've had all of these beers, offered today, except one, but at $2 per flight, it is worth it to try them again and just seemed like the natural starting point. Today's flight included Orchard White, Black Orchard, Saison Rue and Saison de Lente. What a great showing of the artistic craft they have to offer. Both Orchards are deliciously light, while maintaining their own unique flavor profiles. The Saison Rue is well balanced in the body, with a bold spice flavor. Saison de Lente, a recent seasonal release, was also a welcomed spin on the saison style. Very crisp and light. Great spring offering.

I found the Bruery well lit, open and well laid out, and clean. I wish I lived closer and was able to visit more often. I'll find a way to make the trip from San Diego every now and again.

Working in Burbank with Mrs. Deac83 visiting, so we decided to try and get down to this place. Only 40 miles but 2 hours in LA traffic. Left work early to try and beat some of the traffic. Pull up to the tasting room and there is a table set up by the door. He asks me for my membership. I say what membership. Apparently there was a special tasting event going on only for members.

Tell we just drove 2 hrs down in LA traffic to get there. He laughs and thinks it's funny. Then he said he turned a guy who came in from MD early, laughed about that as well.

I ask why it wasn't mentioned on the website since I had checked to make sure they were open. He says 'oh we don't update that too often'. Then say's 'we put it on facebook etc'.

Then just to finish it off, he say's 'oh but you can buy some bottles'. Sorry not paying you for wasting 3 1/2 hours of my time because you can't update your website.

Real nice place where the employees laugh at your bad luck.

I was surprised by the exterior and location in an office park that seems more suited for an aging paper company than a brewery, but the interior was actually pretty cool.

As I usually do, I took a place at the bar to have easy access to the servers, the taps and in the Bruery's case, a view of their huge selection of bottles in a fridge.

The tap list was long as all hell and written on a chalkboard in a way that from a distance nothing was really visible. Fortunately, The Bruery has a sheet like what you'd find in a sushi restaurant on which you can see the beer options and check off those that you'd like. This was useful.

I don't remember exactly, but a flight of about 5 samples were in the vicinity of $10, with some beers costing slightly more. There were so many damn good beer options that choosing a flight proved difficult. What I did, and what I suggest others do, is order two (or even three) flights. The pours are generous and presented elegantly in the mini-snifters.

There were plenty of variations of beers and beers with delicious additions like coconut, cacao nibs and vanilla which really make for some explosive flavors; this I really appreciated. Mash & Coconut for example was a phenomenal beer that is simply one of those that you never forget, it was such a standout. It's pretty damn impressive how smooth and free of astringency these guys can make 16%+ ABV beers.

One thing that prohibits me from giving this place a 5 is the restrictions to the consumer that result from their Reserve and Hoarder's Society. Some of their most desirable beers are available only to these Society folks, which for a visitor like me, means I can only salivate over them on the menu and as folks around me get to enjoy them. This particularly stung as the Mash & Coconut that I was able to order and enjoy, was restricted for growler-fills to Reserve Society members. This was quite the cock tease to me.

At the very least, I'd suggest The Bruery consider creating a surcharge or something of that sort to give the casual visitor the opportunity at growler fills or the more exclusive beers. I'd love to join the Reserve Society (I'm currently part of the Preservation Society), but being that I don't live in the state, it's hard to justify.

Anyway, overall the beers here are often exceptional and incomparable and visiting was fun. If I were in LA more, I'd try to visit more often.

Outstanding Bruery! Fun and lively tour (thanks Josh your the best Brewery tour guide I've encountered), and I love the value I got here. Almost everyone was drinking flights of beer. Their bottles are rightfully expensive, but come here and you can sample 40 different taps all of there own beer. The tastings are 3 oz or so, and priced typically at $1 or $2, a few tastes are $3.50.

Very creative, beer, some things like the mole smoked porter I've never heard of before, but amazingly yummy! I wish i could come here more often. I came from WI, and this was my favorite brewery i visited in CA. That said I like sours and other big complex beers so this is right up my alley. They have the biggest collection of sours I've seen.

Also, they have a food truck there almost every night i believe, and you are allowed to bring food in from other local restaurants.

Top notch beer, service, food trucks. Really showcases what orange county brewing is headed towards. Staff is very knowledgeable about the craft. This place holds up with stone and all the best breweries, and in my opinion have hands down the most variety of sours in oc. I'm a reserve society member and they always have been super professional. If you like beer and haven't been here you're really doing yourself an injustice. Try it and see
cheers!

The beers to go can sometimes be better but the tap list is superb. The food trucks are also hit and miss. Even with that said I always to mange to go here at least once a month. Definitely recommend.
