Nearly four pounds of Magnum, Simcoe, and Cascade hops per barrel form intense citrus and pine flavor with notes of tropical fruit.

Very piney with a lingering bitterness. Herbal and floral, balanced with a nice malt profile. Definitely a solid brew, well appreciated after a sun exposed hike in Glacier. I appreciate the lean toward bitter piney hops, I would rate this higher than it’s current status, but I’ve drinking the fruity, hazy brews lately so this is a welcome change of pace

I had a can of this from a food booth at the tiny Kalispell airport and it was very fresh and very good! Later I realized that I had gone hiking 10 15 miles away from the brewery but didn't know it was there. Oh well. The beer has 70 IBU, no wonder I liked it.

Another beer from August 2015 picked up while in Oregon. This one was disappointing beyond the cool hockey references artwork (even a bump in the appearance bc of it).
Hockey and snowy mountains on the label. Deep copper amber pour, this is one of those top 10% maltiest looking ipa realms. 1/2" almost tan head on it. Aroma clearly refutes the commercial tug job claim about tropical fruit here. Anyone who knows their hops has to laugh at the idea that Magnum, Simcoe and Cascade = tropical fruit, gtfo with that nonsense. Sure enough, its a bitter caramel aroma.
Taste imparts a hefty degree of bitterness. Simcoe pushes it with sheer bitterness, Cascade gives it a grapefruit rind and pine bitterness edge, and Magnum gives it even more bitter sting that brings out the alcohol even more. Just way too malty, the caramel binding to all bittering hops takes me to a place I'd rather not be. Its below average and as far as my limited Montana drinkings, it is noticeably behind a few Big Sky hoppy beers.

Can to becher pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking burnt orange/copper color with a shallow haze to it. Modest finger's worth of white foamy head sliding off delicately to leave some messy lace.
The aroma held some herbal/grassy to floral and some earthy hops - all seems to blend fairly well. Some biscuit/crackery malts lingers in for a sly balance.
The flavor seemed to lead with a combined sweetness of the floral to earthy and grassy/herbal hops. Then a soft bitter portion of the grassy to floral hops with a touch of cracker malt. Barely any aftertaste but seemed somewhat piney and malty.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Sturdy carbonation and some sharp piney harsh bitterness. Stiff finish of some bitter pine and lingering grassy hop effects.
Overall, nothing too special but nice to try. Thanks Bob!

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance - The beer pours a beautiful copper amber color with a one finger head of fluffy white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a cracker and herbal hop aroma. Along with these smells comes a little bit of pine and citrus hop as well as some lighter notes of tropical fruits.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and light caramel flavor that has a decent showing of an herbal hop taste. As the taste advances the caramel fades with a little bit of fruitiness taking its place. All the while the herbal hop becomes even stronger and is joined by some other hop tastes of a very light citrus hop as well as some pine and a bit of earth. At the very end, some grass, more malt, and more herb come to the tongue, to leave one with a somewhat malty and more dankly hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is normal as well. For the mix of hop and malt, as well as the abv. the feel is rather well done, creating a nice easy but not too easy drinking feel.
Overall – A decent IPA overall. One to try, but nothing all that extraordinary.

6/2018...pours orange gold with a ring of white foam. Light bitter nose, faint. Not much coming out. Citrus flavors throughout. Backed bitter. Feels like a session IPA. Low amped.

Pours almost a reddish-honey color, with a toothpaste white head of 2 fingers.
Aroma is very welcoming and glorious. Fresh fruits - pineapple, cantaloupe, mango, orange, tangerine, light grapefruit.
Flavor really amps up the IBU's. Strong waves of earthy pine, cured wood, hop oils, followed by tangerine, faint cantaloupe, light caramel sweetness, and flip flops to a nice candied orange finish.
Feel is resiny, with a moderate carbonation and a slightly dry alcohol finish with lingering resins.
Overall, a tasty IPA with a ton of perceived bitterness. If it weren't for the softening orange sherbert-like flavor on the finish, it would be a total bitter bomb. It reminds me of some of the Big Sky offerings and other near-west coast styles. Not a bad IPA, just not my particular bag.

16oz can served in a pint glass. Given to me by @mr-jj. No date on the can.
Pours a slightly hazy amber color, smallish head, medium carbonation. Smell is lemon and grass, wet biscuits.
Taste is bitter lemongrass, moderate caramel sweetness.
Mouthfeel is thin and dry. Overall, not bad, but I wonder how old it is.

Same friend gave me another can. This one has a date on on (09/18/??, so I think I'll assume it's 2 months old instead of 14). Seems better this time.
Looks the same, smell is still lemon and grass, but kind of clean and refreshing. Taste is more intensely bitter, not so much lemongrass as lemon zest. Sweetness is more muted. Mouthfeel is thick and resinous. Overall, it's not a great one, but it's a good one.
