2017 Vintage
22oz bottle poured into a goblet
A- pours a deep amber color with a ruby hue, one finger foamy white head that has good retention
S- malty and sweet nose with notes of brown sugar, caramel and boozy rum. Spice undertones of cinnamon & nutmeg. Notes of cola and raw pumpkin close it out
T- sweet boozy rum barrel gives notes of molasses and brown sugar up front, followed by spice undertones of cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish brings out a slightly sour tartness that almost tastes like a Flanders red. The finish gives more rum and brown sugar, with some fruity notes lingering
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly tart and warming finish
O- not sure if the souring was intended, but I tend to think it would have been better without it

Amber filtered with slow rising bubbles and a finger of off white head.
Smells of rum and pumpkin spices, caramel, coke and pumpkin flesh.
The taste follows the nose. It has a sour quality in the end as well.
Medium body with little carbonation.
I got this at a gas station in Redding, where I am drinking it Jan 14th, 2018. Very unique brew.

Some rum flavor. Pumpkin is mild. A little bit of spice. Good deal of oak. The barrel aging imparted too much oak and not enough rum. Not sure if it detracted from the pumpkin flavor.

Draft tonight at the brewpub... Pours dark orange/light brown with a long lasting white head... Spicy notes move from front to back and there is a pervasive boozy notes, the rum barrels come across much more on the palate and pretty heavily with warmth. Interesting, but you must like rum (and spiced pumpkin beers) to really enjoy this one and I'm on the fence on both accounts.

Smells like a sour; no rum notes nor pumpkin notes to really be had. Taste can only be described as confused. Feel is quite thin. Not a fan of this new AB-INBEV concoction.

Poured from 22oz bomber into my Selkirk Abbey tulip.
Appearance: rich orange hue with a surprisingly light haze and a moderate effervescence. Head is a finger of creamy ivory foam which leaves a nice thorough lace on the glass as it dissipates. Quite attractive!
Smell: strong and sweet with a definite pumpkin aroma and a big, oaky attitude. There are indeed rum notes, and the oak is strong in a way that makes me think of a sour, although there's not a strictly sour element to it. Nicely complex!
Taste: big and rich pumpkin up front, with a very solid maltiness. There is a traditional pumpkin spice here, but it's easily stood up to by the barrel. The overall effect is muddled, but it's still a very good beer indeed.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and concomitant creaminess. I dig it.
Overall: a very good pumpkin beer; it's got all the standard elements plus the interesting barrel qualities which show up a bit more in the aroma than in the flavor. Drinks a bit below its atomic ABV.

poured from a 22oz bottle with a waxed cap, so fancy, that tells you how good it will be right there. into a wet mug. nice pour, minimal head breaking down to thin but long lasting. smells of spice, and a mixture of dried fruit, apricots and prunes. The color is a slightly hazy brownish orange. The taste is nicely complex, not sweet but kind of dry. It seems hoppy, but not the in your face kind. The taste is like the aroma, dried fruit, spices, and a bit chocolaty. halfway down now, there is a touch of vanilla. a year old, huh? i believe it, this beer is very flavorful. now, with the beer warming, the phenols kick in a bit. Ever eat a dried banana? ummm. rich. 1/3rd to go, many lace lines, lots of small sips, a ring hanging on the meniscus, the surface clearing now. i appreciate the slightly astringent mouthfeel, no cloying sweetness at all. not much left, but the oak comes through now, but the aroma of roast pork loin is now predominant, due to the culinary accomplishments of my neighbor, who so generously provided this delicious beer, if it can be called that. Ambrosia would be a better term. This one is right up there with Samichlaus, one I will not forget.
