22oz into a tulip. Pours a clear honey amber w/ a 1-finger head, moderate carbonation.

Aroma is fruity and sweet. Apricots, peaches, candi sugar.

Taste follows nose. Sticky sweet, sugary, fruity. Subtle grape, wine and oak. Reminds me a bit of Cuvée Van De Keizer Rood. 10% ABV dangerously hidden.

Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied, a little chewy. Nice, substantial body.

Overall a nice sipper of a Belgian golden ale. Hitting the spot.

Waxed 22oz bomber split into wine glasses with the wife...

A: Golden pour, light-to-moderate lacing, some cloudiness towards the end of the bottle.

S: Vinous white wine and stone fruit...hint of sourness, moderate oak character and a good dose of pale maltiness with a Belgian edge. Fruity, wine-like, and a touch sour.

T: Moderate oak, fruity sourness, and Belgian yeast and pale maltiness pulls through. Apricot and pear, white wine, green grapes, oak, and some funky fruitiness that reminds me of pineapple and makes me think Brettanomyces. Faint spiciness.

MF: Creamy, moderate body...medium-heavy mouthfeel. Not overly carbed.

O: A nice take on a Belgian Golden. While the oakiness and white wine character is nice, I would have preffered more fruitiness or sourness or vinous notes. This stayed middle-of-the-pack with the malty character. Still a good beer.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a medium coppery amber with a fine one finger slightly off-white head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of light stone fruit, Belgian yeast, vinous, light oak and hints of light sourness. Flavor is light stone fruit, mainly peach, bready malt, clove, developing more white wine, mild barrel notes before finishing semi-sweet with a deceptive feeling of dryness and residual distinctive clove, mild winter spices and light hop bitterness, mildly buttery. Medium to heavy bodied with a pleasant creaminess. An interesting take on a Belgian style ale, the spicing is similar to a triple, but the fruit forward body is well within dubbel territory. The wine barreling is not strong, but adds a nice dimension to the flavors. I am not usually a fan of wine barreled beers, but here the flavors are suggestive rather than aggressive. ABV is dangerously covered, this is as easy to drink as peach nectar. Nicely done and unusual. Great brewery.

Picked up a chub at Bier Thirty last weekend... Shared with Buckeyeboy tonight.. Poured into my HotD goblet.. Hazy orange... nice off white head.. I swear both head and beer have a pinkish hue... Jeremy agreed reluctantly.

Nose is almost like a Belgian yeast was used (??) Big and malty with peach and lesser apricot. Wine barrel presence is pretty big with background vinous but a heavier oak. I get something I associate with light clove or even some pink bubblegum.

Flavors are all over the place with this one and somehow mesh very well... tons of fruitiness.. apricot and melon.. balanced pale malts pull and balance the fruits and then the barrels come in.. vinous but not so much as on the nose.. spicy with a bit of minor American hoppiness...

Complex and simple... very integrated.. the sweetness is a playground where everybody comes and plays together ... Never any alcohol.. damn good.
