On tap at Grandad's. Pours a solid amber with a foamy head that dissipates fairly fast. Decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is predominately spruce and pine, with just a touch of malt. Not surprisingly, that's exactly how it tastes. The blend of hops makes it reasonably interesting. Nice bitterness. Medium mouth. There's not a lot of carbonation, so the aftertaste hangs on the tongue well. This is my second time to try this one, and it really reminds me of an IPL like Widmer Bros. Hopside Down. This isn't spectacular, but just a solid brew that always hits the spot.

Pours a rich amber color with a white head. Aroma is mildly hoppy in a floral nature and definite caramel. In the taste, a well balanced ale with caramel and citrus. Fair bitterness and solid balance. Medium bodied, well carbonated ale. Overall, a pretty good American Amber.

Appearance is a deep crimson with generous tan head, heavy lacing, and nice clarity. Nose is herbal with a healthy dose of piney/resinous hops intertwined by a strong caramel and bread malt profile. Taste is hop forward with herbal and earthy hops. Deep tones of spruce, pine, and wood come through with a very floral finish. There is a nice amount of hop flavor packed into this brew with an impressive finish. Mouthfeel is medium with appropriate carbonation. Overall, a solid red from a brewery that is new to me. Definitely enjoyable.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Murky rust color. Cream colored head leaves a thick film, decent lacing initially.

Aroma: Charred grains underneath an otherwise hoppy aroma.

Taste: Bitter hops attack first, leaving no room for any malt sweetness. Maybe some grains toward the end, but still a bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, bright.

Overall: I'm not a fan of hoppy reds. I prefer malty reds. This is my least favorite Marshall beer in an otherwise exceptional lineup. No worries.
