A pint on-tap in Toronto at Big Daddy's Cajun something or other theme restaurant.

This beer appears a crystal clear, medium golden yellow colour, with two fingers of thinly foamy, scraggly dirty white head, which leaves a decent broken wall of fuzzy lace around the glass during its moderately slow retreat.

It smells mildly of pale grainy malt, a hint of corn mash, soapy, weedy hops, and a surprising bit of diluted paint thinner. The taste plays right along, with more soft grainy, weakly bready pale malt, a certain restrained grainy adjunct astringency, a wee hint of bland, indistinct fruitiness, and some low-lying grassy, weedy hops.

The carbonation is quite laid-back, and certainly inert-seeming at times, the body a definite lightweight, but not really thin, and smooth like hard water, not buttah. It finishes off-dry, what's left of the already lean malt having one last weak-ass hurrah, but it's clean for the most part.

Low on flavour, good or bad, sure, but easy enough to drink, if you're just looking for some fizzy yellow malt water to offset the culinary heat comin' your way. Oh, and of course it looks all regal and stella(r) in its hefty serving vessel/chalice.

This is a very nice beer to sip on when you just want to lay back and relax. Very light and and smooth. Has a very grainy flavor but not overpowering. Bottle looks nice and is made well. I recommend this beer to anyone who enjoys a simple yet sophisticated beer.

A - poured a two finger head - a light yellow colour - a little lacing with decent retention

S - stale biscuit, grainy, light fruit, skunk

T - light malt, bread, pear, hint of pepper, corn

M - light body, with some carbonation, little bitterness

O - a little flavour but probably better off drinking a cold coors light

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color lager with small bubbly pure white head with minimal retention. Loads of sweet adjunct are noticeable and dominating the aroma. Taste is also dominated by loads of sweet adjunct. While the regular SA is no favorite of mine it is at least more authentic the this adjunct juice.

I have had this beer a few times. Normally from the first pour I can tell that I don't like it. I like beer when it pours holds some head to it. Stella does't do that, and the taste that comes across it t me is kind of a skunky nasty taste. It is a lot cheaper than some of the higher end beers, but if I really was in dire straights I would prefer to drink PBR over this beer.

500 mL can; best before July 2012. The Canadian version is listed at 4% - it's definitely labelled as "Stella Light" (or légère, because accents make things fancier), and the packaging is not the same as the "Stella 4%" listed in this brewery's list of beers. I have a feeling this is just a case of different labeling for different markets and there probably isn't much difference between the two anyway.

Pours a pale golden straw colour, topped with two fingers of light, puffy white head that dies down over a few minutes. Good lacing, especially for a light beer. The aroma is thoroughly uninteresting... pale grain malts and some grass. A bit of an adjunct vibe; expected for the style.

Definitely less flavourful than a regular Stella, but nothing overtly annoying. Light, grainy malts, some diluted wet hay with slightly sweet adjuncts. A bit of light fruitiness, and a clean finish with no aftertaste. Thin-bodied, watery, with pretty low carbonation for the style - less bite than the average macro, but still biting. Gets nastier as it warms, but if you drink light beer warm you're doing it wrong anyway.

Bland, watery, and completely uninteresting - but there is at least some agreeable flavour, and as far as light beers go I can't honestly say this is anything but above average. Drinkable and inoffensive - and that's all the praise I can muster. If you are looking for a light beer, this is certainly better than Coors/Bud Light-type stuff, but given the price and the miniscule differences involved, you might as well just buy something cheaper.

Clear straw yellow apperance with smell head that slowly settles down. Smell is mostly grain with a strong hint of grass, odd for a light beer.

Taste is grainy with floral hops and some sweetness, but overall it is flat and very light. Reminds me of month old diet coke. Light bodied with high carbonation. Aftertaste is dry with a lingering grain taste.

Overall this seems like a lamer version of Stella Artois. There seems to be a lot of junk in it to (preservatives, flavoring?), but it get the feeling you'll get a huge hangover drinking this. There are better and cheaper light beers out there.

Stella Artois Light in London. Once opened and poured, the beer has a great light golden colour, good head retention and the carbonation up to par. Smells good, not many notes to pick up on though. As a light lager it fits the profile as a light bodied beer. Tasted a bit too watery for a light lager though.
