I found this on tap at Finnegan's in Huntington, NY and it served well as the companion to the light lamb stew, while watching late afternoon college football on a chilly day. I had previously ignored this brand as another quasi-Heineken, but after seeing a lot of of it being served in France this past August, I had to give it a try.
It had a minimal amount of head in the pint glass I ordered, which I attributed to the bartender's pouring technique. My first impression was similar to my first taste of Coors in the early 1980's, before the beer conglomerate messed up the original formula for marketing reasons. The Stella had a light creamy taste that was followed by plain lager flow that finished with a tinge of bitterness.
While the Stella Artois lacks some of the artistic attributes of many of the great beers listed in the BA, it is a good lager worthy of drinking in large amounts in the company of good friends.
