Had this at my local Fuddruckers. And a bomber to boot! Kinda shocked to see it since most have the "standard" craft selection. Gave me a plastic cup to pour it in. Grrrr..
Pours a cola colored ale with an almost one finger off-white head. Light ring around the glass as the session continues.
Smell is malty with a touch of hops. Getting some whiffs of fruit combined with the malt. Nothing special here. Slight boozy aroma? A bit of hops in the swallow.
The taste is malty followed by malt. Maybe a touch of caramel.
Flat mouthfeel.
Overall I paid $7.25 for the experience and will not revisit this. Nothing that wows in any sense. Still open to trying other styles to support a local brewery though.

The 2013 brewing of this has a new label and seems to be an improvement over some of the earlier years. It's the standard Red/Amber stuff but less murky and leafy. This pours a lovely coppery amber color in the big New Belgium snifter. Pleasingly spritzy on the tongue with plenty of bubbles and lacing in the glass. Some grainy aromas with a spicy hint.
Flavor of warm malty flavors with an herbal hoppy taste. Some aromatics with hints of pine and resins. Tangy and even a little hot. The sudsy mouthfeel lasts to the end. A moderately bitter finish. A better than average Red, though less hopped-up than some might like. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Beer Revolution in Oakland.

The aroma was malty... a little woody.
Color was a nice dark amber. Rated well...
The mouthfeel is deceiving in that it starts out a little agressive and then wimps out... silly frog.
Tasted malty... i got a strange water sensation at the end of my sips... not sure what that is about.
I think the problem with this beer is that it's not sure what it's supposed to be. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be.. and for that it confused me.

Red, big tan head steadily shrinks to lasting thin foamy top.
Aroma is fermented plums, grapefruit, pine bark, sweet caramel. It is fairly sweet and perfumy, but not overly so and is a very nice version of a definite west coast character.
Taste is fermented barley, plums with light grapefruit-orange and a dry finish of toasted barley and leaves. It is faintly winy, juicy, an balanced bitter-sweet. Feel and character are overall well rounded.

Pours an Imperial Red Ale colour; a bit paler towards the edge. Head is beige, nice and foamy with small visible bubbles, thin crown retaining but lace is gorgeous. Light bead, clear body. Looks good.
Smells weird. Very fruity, with raspberry mixing with pear and peach. Tart, fruity, kind of fresh and enjoyable but oddly tart; needs more malt to back it up. Bit meh, but still, I'm intrigued.
Taste is also very weird. Fruity and tangy, with an acetyldehyde flavour upfront, then blackberry and packham pear, with little more towards the finish. Bit bitter at the back, but it's all sort of organic fruit notes; mildly tart but mostly sweet, almost entirely bland and uninteresting.
Bit bittty in the mouth, little bit of tartness to it. Not great.
Yeah, a bit weak and uninspiring, but mostly just odd.

A --- nice deep red color with a decent head
S --- Not picking up much of anything.
T --- not much taste and a little sour.
M --- decent body, but lightly carbinated
O --- Not impressed. It's not horrible, but lacks anything memorable. Seems to be made for the masses rather than trying to find a samll niche.

Pours a very deep amber colour, probably with hints of red to it, but it's subtle. Head is extremely foamy and rocky, it's solid enough that it forms pits and mounds on the top of the beer. I almost want to post a photo of it with my review; it's quite unique. Lacing is minimal, but clumpy. There's not a lot of it hanging around, but it leaves extreme stickiness when it is there. Pretty decent look.
Unfortunately not a lot on the nose. Some malty grain, quite a wholesome character, but missing something. Some fresh hoppiness, but not a lot. A little seltzer water, and a subtle twang of acidity. Not that bad, but not that great either.
Taste is similar. Big notes of roasted grain, with minimal hop character, and a slightly odd cherry pip acridity through the centre. Finish is dry and empty, with just more soda acidity, and a light capsicum flavour - not the spice however. Something to the pleasant grain notes, but it feels like it's off kilter from the style. Mouthfeel is smooth enough, but the carbonation is a little too pronounced and it ends up rather bloating.
Not bad, but not that exciting either. Becomes a little tiresome to drink more than a little of, especially with the overt carbonation. But it's pleasant enough, and has some nice characters. Just doesn't live up to my expectations for the style.

Clear amber with a dark orange hue and tan head.
Floral citrus hops upfront, loads of fresh baked bread and caramel malt sweetness. Very malty nose that is anchored by the citrus hops, which I felt could have been a little more prominent.
Taste mimics the nose quite well with caramel/sugar sweetness first noticeable with a clean and crisp bitterness. Slight orange taste as well. Very well balanced even if fairly one noted. Sweet aftertaste.
The mouthfeel is good for the style with a medium degree of carbonation and a light body; definitely enhances the drinkability.
Overall very quaffable with no lingering harshness.

Bottle purchased from BevMo in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a clear amber color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of lightly toasted caramel malts with hints of floral hops.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Grainy caramel malt flavors up front are joined by floral and slightly earthy hop flavors. These flavors carry through to a slightly muddled bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is good. It's a bit on the thin side but with solid carbonation.
Drinkability is OK. I didn't have a problem finishing my glass but I'm not too sure about another.
Overall this was an alright amber but I prefer them with richer malts or more hops. This one is right in the middle and does neither exceptionally well. Still, it's not a terrible beer and I wouldn't turn one down if offered.
