I had high hopes walking in. The Tri-Cities is a fairly bland place, one that is hard to imagine having a good beer bar. However, lots of places that used to be meccas for crap beer have improved greatly in recent years. Sadly, while this place is better than lots of bars in Kennewick, this is not a place to excite a BA that's been where great bars with great beer can be found.

Yes, there are a number of micros on-tap. There seemed to be about 20 taps. It was hard to tell, however, as taps were scattered around the roughly u-shaped bar area, with no one good place to view all the tap handles. When I asked if they kept a list, the bartender told me no, because they rotate beers too frequently to keep one. Apparently they have no ability to run a printer or find room amid the macro advertisements to mount a dry-erase board. There were also a large number of macros on, the usual suspects and their "lite" versions. I had an Iron Horse IPA and a Ninkasi Oatis, both of which had a mineralish taste to them that wasn't right for the style, so perhaps they don't clean their lines too often.

Initially, I was served by a bartender that wasn't unfriendly, but was puttng out an unhappy-to-be-at-work vibe that manifested itself by her infrequently checking on me (including after I had received a menu and presumably might be wanting to order food). Once she went on break, however, a waitress made up for it by being very friendly and attentive. The place was virtualy empty, as it happened, with just a couple of old codgers sitting at the bar and one couple playing pool, so they probably really only needed one person at that time, anyway.

Atmosphere was that of a no-frills sports bar, and was rather dark. It was late morning, and they were only offering breakfast items for those keen to eat. Having had a rather sparse breakfast, I opted for biscuits and gravy. It was cheap ($3.95), but it came at another kind of cost, and I spent much of the remainder of the day paying that cost.

While there may be more craft beer options here than in most other bars in Kennewick or the Tri-Cities in general, the quality is still not particularly great. In the future, I will stick to Ice Harbor and give this place a wide berth.

Visited 3.26.10 during NCAA tournament.

Good place to watch sports, about 15 big screens, though you have to get past the ubiquitous lottery machine to find a seat, 3 $20 scratch-off tickets, the methamphetamine of lottery products, and they have pull-tabs too. Argghh. Several food specials a crab and swiss cheese sandwich, huh? Other than the food specials, pretty typical pub grub. 25 "micros' on tap, including the biggest selection of Widmer I've seen outside the Gasthous, and local purveyors Iron Horse, Snipes Mountain, and including some macro-swills Kokanee, double ugh. They did have the Iron Horse Black IPA and Irish Death, which are pretty hard to find on tap. The dude bartender was weak, he overpoured my beer, and while I moved seats, the puddle of beer sit on the bar while he reveled locals with his lameness-a patron who sit where he poured my beer had to clean up the mess 20 minutes later-not cool. The waitresses tried their best to overcome his lack of professionalism, but that was weak. The place has a kind of western saloon feel to it, a much older crowd than the other beer forward places in town, and I saw a lot of macro-swill being poured. The worst part was the *frozen* glass my first beer was poured in. I couldn't taste the character of the beer at all (hence I won't review that one), and while the waitress did bring me a warm mug for second beer, the vibe had been chilled, err, frozen, by one of the lamest bartenders I've ever seen, who couldn't last 15 minutes in any decent beerbar in Portland. I don't often go on a tirade like this, but dude, clean up your mess!!!

EDIT- went back in 4/23/10 after arriving late PM and staying at a proximate hotel. The lame bartender told me they 'were out of air' for the micro tapline, but he could pour me a B*d, B*d Light, etc. Frickin Lame. downgrade service to 1.5.

I frequently visit Uncle Sam's to share beers with friends while watching sporting events. The establishment has a half dozen or so HD screens and caters to the sports crowd. There are also a couple of pool tables and dart boards for those that are so inclined.

On any given day the bar features about 20 taps of mostly micro brews from the North West as well as a few large brewery imports (e.g., Guinness). Common tap beers include those of Full Sale, Alaskan, Deschutes, Widmir, Iron Horse, Georgetown, Mac and Jack's, and Pyramid. Additionally, the bar has the ususal macro suspects (BCM).

The food consists of the typical bar food....nothing special and a lot of grease. However, the food is served hot and fast making it a good complement to the beer. Service sometimes leaves something to be desired, especially when the crowds surge on big game days. The staff that is there, especially on slow days, is fast and helpful.
