First time in Pensacola so I looked up a few places to visit. Hopjack's seemed a good start. I rode 300 miles to get here so a good beer selection was required as was food.
Beer selection is great. 112 on draft and about 100 more in bottles. A very well rounded selection from Abita to Warsteiner. Barleywines to ciders to schwarzbiers. Oh yeah.
Outside seating is covered and open on the brick sidewalk, indoors is huge and open. Very inviting. The block of old buildings gives a nice vibe and plenty of shade.
I gave service a knock because I parked the motorcycle right in front and took a seat literally 5' away. 10 minutes later, having not been served yet, and after moving inside to try to rectify this, another party sat outside and was waited on quickly. So, having not been spoken to yet, I moved back outside and snagged the server. From then on the service was great. All this on a Monday mid afternoon.
Pizza choices are amazing looking (the jerk chicken looks especially awesome) and come in 6", 10" & 16". But I'm going with a blackened shrimp & pepper pita fold sandwich with a side of Belgian fries (pomme frites ) fried in duck fat! The roasted duck caeser salad sounds extremely good, as well. Food s delicious, the fries are not greasy and have a great flavor.
Draft beers are well priced, running from $2.50 for Yuengling to $7.75 for St. Bernardus Prior 8.
Alright, round two, two days later. Came back after work on a Wednesday about 7:15 pm.
The herb roasted duck pizza was really, really good. But...
Service officially sucks! Spent 20 minutes outside, after my companion ordered a beer at the bar, and not a single server checked on us. The waitresses hadn't cleared the empty glasses or asked about the still non-drinking person and finally took a beer order after I waved her down. Apparently the bartender doesn't play well with others and wouldn't fill the order. So we moved inside, cashed out the tab from the bar and started a new one at a table. WTF! From this point on, things were good but I had been here nearly half an hour at this point.

The selection is almost as good as World of Beers but the place is much cozier and much less "corporate" feeling. Sit at the bar and talk to the very knowledgable bartenders if you need help narrowing your choices. They will happily provide small samples of a few drafts to help. They are even half price on Sundays so you can try them all! I recommend the fries too... They're cooked in duck fat... Tastey!

We visited here on a Saturday night and luckily got a seat at the bar right before the band setup and they started putting wristbands on people who came in. It quickly transformed from a pub/restaurant into a pub/nightclub. People were soon crowding the isles and leaning into us to get the bartenders attention. Despite the nightclub lightswitch they threw on us we were still able to get good service from our bartender and even order food. The food was pretty good. We had some beef, duck and chicken skewers, the duckfat fries and a chicken ceasar salad. Maybe would pass on the chicken in the chicken ceaser next time, kinda chewy. The beer selection was enormous and actually included some good stuff (Bells Hopslam!). No reason for a beer nerd not to go here if in town. Reminded me of the Taproom in San Marcos (TX) or a grungier Flying Saucer on a busy night.

About twice a year, I find myself near Pensacola, and I always HAVE to go to this place. On Sundays they have what is referred to as "Sucker Free Sunday". Every tap in the place...all 112 of them...half off. It's unbelievable. And the prices aren't bad anyway. So twice a year, I get to drink things like $2 pints of Victory Hop Wallop, $2 snifters of Southern Tier Backburner...they even had 4oz pours of Dogfish Head 120 Minute.... You will probably never, ever find a better selection of draft beers. Nevermind the crazy low prices. They have a bunch of bottles too, but who cares when the draft offerings are so plentiful and affordable?
Food ranges from average to excellent. The pizzas are good. The Belgian fries and Black & Bleu salad are simply great.
It's not a fancy place, but it's nice enough. You could bring the family earlier in the night if you felt so inclined.
Service is a little hit or miss, but always better than adequate. You might wait a little bit for your beer if you're at a table, but the staff is always really friendly.
A crazy good beer bar.

Simply outstanding. Great beer selection along with world class service. We tried several different beers - most at the recommendation of Nathan our server or the bartender. They never steered us wrong.
We had the Belgian Fries for an appetizer and they were fan-friggin-tastic. The made to order supreme pizza was tremendous. Although, highly recommend you bring your appetite if you order the large.
Only reason I dinged the atmosphere was due to the A/C not working - it was brutally hot in the place. Nathan reassured us they are working hard to fix. We are DEFINITELY planning a return trip. I've been drinking beer for 41 years and this rates as one of the finest watering holes I've set foot in.

Happened upon the establishment while on business and was giddy over their wall of taps. And such a wonderful, creative variety; stouts, IPAs, local favorites and brews from PA and NY. Kid in a candy shop. I had my first run-ins with favorites Hop Wallop and Creme Brulee stout here and they immediately got my respect when I spotted Old Rasputin on tap. The staff was very in-touch with their product and generous with samples. They shared stories about getting taps mixed up from time to time. A couple of the regulars were a little pushy toward a yankee outsider like myself, but I had a drunken blast here.
