I've been in here twice recently. The place can sometimes have a nice atmosphere when not too crowded, but is a little cold-feeling and predictable. The service has always been fantastic - quick, curteous, and perhaps most importantly, knowledgeable! The menu is huge, although also a little predictable. Typical beer bar fare pretty much runs the show - burgers, pizza, wings, etc. However, portions are generous and both meals I've had have been a tremendous value. Delicious burgers.
As far as beer goes, I've been a little disappointed with the Beer Works. Both times I have been, they've been out of at least two beers that I really wanted to try. Also, this place is on the pricey side for a poor college student. I enjoyed the Fenway American Pale Ale & Centennial Alt, but had really hoped to try some more extreme, unique beers (especially for the price).

This was one stop on our Boston tour, the food was ok and the beer was great. We were there during the '13 World Series and this place was still not extremely busy (not sure what that says about them) The beer selection was above average to great. I tried 4 selections mostly from their Fall line-up. The Oktoberfest was very good (on the east coast they rim the glass w/ sugar/cinnamon) There was also a blueberry beer that I found to be very good. Service was a bit slow for them not being busy but other then that, I think the place was worth the stop if just for the large selection.
