Poured a brilliant, deep orange with a finger of off-white head. Mild aroma of nutmeg and caramel.

Moderate carbonation and a light, dry mouthfeel. Nutmeg, clove, and biscuit up front with mild pumpkin and lots of ginger on the finish.

A little spice-dominant, could have used some more malt/pumpkin to balance.

From tap to pint

A: Carmel tan, clear, no head, no lacing

S: like nutmeg pumpkin pie:-) with a touch of cinnamon, a touch of hops

T: spices, spices, and more spices. Follows the nose. Warm and fuzzy. PUMPKIN

M: lightly carbonated, smooth, mellow, medium bodied

More holiday pumpkin than a hop fest. Still semi beerish:-)

YUMMY

This is a spice beer. There is no pumpkin in it at all. With this in mind I can't help but feel somewhat cheated. What is the word "pumpkin" doing in this beer's name if only "pumpkin spices" are used? It doesn't seem right.

Here's what's in this märzen-inspired amber ale: nutmeg, vanilla bean, ginger, clove, and pumpkin spice. The pumpkin spice stuff is itself a blend of spices with an apparent emphasis on cinnamon. Though the beer tastes of exotic spice in general, the most standout contributor is nutmeg, especially in the finish where the beer runs sharp and dry. The aroma also showcases both nutmeg and clove.

There's nothing technically wrong with this beer. But when you see a "pumpkin" beer on draught in late October it seems reasonable to expect the beer is brewed with actual pumpkin. In the absence of real pumpkin this beer doesn't service a style or a purpose.
