Had this at the Washington Brewers Festival on Sunday. The guy serving said it was an IPA with a new variety of hop, it just smelled and tasted like a smoked blonde ale. I seriously wonder if they burnt something in the production of this, or accidentally mixed up some smoked malt into the grist. The server claims that the smokey flavor comes from the particular hop with a particular malt combining flavors to produce this flavor. Regardless the taste overwhelms the IPA character, allowing only the basest of hop bitterness to come through. Clear dark blonde body, with a thin white head. Like I said it smelled like smoke. I drank half of the sampler glass and dumped the rest on the grass.

A dark clear copper with a thin white head. The nose is subtle with orange citrus and a slight pine scent. The taste is subdued and medium bodied. Its quite bitter with a little pine and good. The retention is good. Its better than average and quite drinkable.
