Appearance is darker, pale iced tea with some white foamy head and lace.

Smell is fainter, a littler herbal and sweet. DIPA?

Taste is sweet, a little citrus and resinous hops. Dry, sweet heat. Drinks quite a bit higher than the ABV.

Mouthfeel is thick, dry and rough.

Drinkability is low for me. Hot, sweet, and not very hoppy. This is a subpar DIPA by any measure of mine.

22oz bottle served in imperial pint glass. Beer pours amber and hazey, with a massive off-white head. Pleasant citrus hop aroma. Flavor profile is tall and bitter, with a big dose of grapefruit juice and citrus peel. Finishes off-dry but clean, with no specific malt flavor, and just a hint of ethanol burn. At 92 IBUs and 7.8% ABV there is no question Two Beers Brewing is showing off and showcasing a lot of hops, rather than shooting for some exquisite, fancy-pants product, but the result is surprisingly well balanced. If anything they erred on the side of leaving the beer too sweet, which to my tongue is preferable to the usual hop monster many cheap double IPAs, which are palate-smashingly bitter. Anyway, worth a try. Especially given the excellent value I was able to find on this ($6.99/22oz at my local grocery).

on-tap, noble fir

"You asked for it, so we brewed it! We took our flagship Evo IPA, increased the malt bill, and added even more of the best Yakima Valley Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, and Columbus hops to give this double IPA a piney, citrus aroma."

I don't really like EVO, and Forester reminded me a lot of EVO - it's just way too heavy bodied for the style in my opinion. There are some really interesting flavors present - huge sugary grapefruit and tropical fruit, but a thick sweet malt base just makes this a task.

Appearance. Pours a very hazy orange-amber with almost a finger of thick, cream coloured head.

Smell. Caramel, raw sugar and sweet grainy malt, peach and pineapple, and some sweet citrus fruits.

Taste. Sweet caramel, brown sugar, pineapple and oranges, just a little pine.

Mouthfeel. On the low side of full bodied, low+ carbonation.

Overall. Very sweet beer here. Decent flavours, but that sweetness is over the top.

Well, first of all the name is way cool. The name brings a good beer to life. Poured me a glass or two from the 22 oz bottles I picked up the other day. The scent is great, the flavor super. The mouth feel is fantastic. I am hit by the great bitterness of this beer. I look for that in any IPA. I love the smooth mouth feel contrasted with a very noticeable bitterness. This is why I think so of positively of this precious liquid.

This is the IPA on tap at Branzino's in Seattle. The problem rating a beer with food is the food. But this is the second time I have enjoyed this brew at Branzino's so I tried my best to just enjoy the first glass without food and bring home the rating. I checked BA and was surprised at the 82, This is a better than good IPA and I think a 85 is in order. Better than the BA rating for sure.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, tangerine, pineapple, floral, grass, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, light pine, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity and very balanced hop/malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, pine, floral, grass, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, floral, pine, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish. Good hop balance and complexity; with a moderate malt backbone and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly slick and sticky mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid Double IPA. Good balance and complexity of hop and malt notes; and quite smooth to sip on. An enjoyable offering.

Handsome orangey amber color with a modest, coarse foam in the Affligem chalice. The aroma is pleasantly mangos and cake batter.

Sweet, with a hopped-up Barleywine flavor. Lots of fruity flavors, though there's an overripe taste that is a little disconcerting. Some candied taste like citron and a rummy zucchini bread flavor. A little peppermint schnapps and cookie dough. Then you get the bitter murky finish.

This tastes better on the first couple of sips. There is a bitter insistency along with the sugar that gets a little tiresome. Still, it's a big gulp of flavor. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Central Market - Shoreline in north Seattle.
