Fresh Hop 2014 made with Centennial hops

First fresh hop of the season. Pretty mild and light grassy hops.

The huge hoppy aroma and gigantic head are the first things that stand out. A delightful mix of pine, citrus, and grass. This carries over to the flavor with a blend of fresh Simcoe, Amarillo, Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade hops. Thankfully, they didn't ignore the malt as the backbone stands up to the hops. Biting and bitter, as an IPA should be, this celebrates hops without being heavy handed. Although it does pack 70 IBUs and 6.2% ABV.
It's really, really good.

22oz bottle served in pint glass. Beer is golden yellow in color and pours with a massive white head. Pleasant, C-hop aroma, with suggesting orange peel in a big way. Flavor is *aggressive* with hops. What started out as a beautiful looking, and smelling, IPA, turns out to be an unbalanced Cascade bomb in the mouth. Two Beers is successful in highlighting PNW hops, but there just isn't enough of a grain bill to give this thing a backbone.

Enjoyed out of a 22 oz brown bomber with no dating on the bottle, however it is most certainly the 2013 edition based on the new label. So likely bottled in September or thereabouts. Poured into the special SN/DFH Spiegelau IPA glass.

Appearance - Bright and golden orange with a slight chill haze and a steady but slight stream of carbonation bubbles rising steadily to the top from the laser etching on the bottom of the glass. Some highlights of apricot as well. Atop the body sits a two finger head of bone white, plush and soft, turning to the appearance of baby swiss cheese as the bubbles burst. Retention is excellent, hanging around for several minutes before leaving a web of lacing and a film of bubbles surrounding a rocky foam island. As the beer is consumed, it leaves mottled sheets that suggest leopard print.

Smell - All hops, with some hints of sinus-clearing pungency, but nothing that ever gets so overpowering as to be unpleasant. Grass, pineapple, citrus and evergreen blend with one another to create an all hop aroma. Falls quickly, and doesn't really get any more complex from whiff to whiff. Still plenty of statisfaction for hop heads.

Taste - Delivering on the promise of the nose, this stuff is pure hop-ade. Juicy orange and grapefruit with undertones of pine resin and herbal greens. The bitterness is faint and not at all overpowering, so I suppose the grain bill is keeping the hops in check, but just barely. I don't really get any grain characteristics, but merely can tell they are there by how they impact the other elements.

Mouthfeel - Moderate carbonation and a light-to-medium body. Dry and refreshingly clean finish with just a touch of juiciness.

I think I might be discovering a true love for fresh hop ales, as this will be the second I've had that has been really tasty and drinkable. It's too bad that it takes some doing to get my hands on this brand in Kansas City, because I would gladly buy this on the regular.

Served well chilled into a fluted tulip.

Pours a hazy bronze color with an inch of beige head that slowly recedes leaving moderate to heavy surface layer and lacing.

Strong aromas of grapefruit and other citrus, with a hint of other tropical fruit, as well.

Flavors follow through from the aroma with slight grassy flavor in the background.

Medium bodied with a crisp, dry, bitter finish. Heavy carbonation with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Overall I really enjoyed this beer. May be a little to bitter for some, but I really enjoyed it and would definitely have again.

it's a nice beer if you like the grapfruity citrus smell 1st taste, and finish, it is crisp, fresh, and smooth. It is just not what I think of when I see IPA. Good summer brew and something to have some good food with. I'm guessing this beer is a bit different each season since it is from the "first Hop harvest "of each season. Glad I drank it.

22oz bottle poured into a large mug. No dates or codes, but it's probably a single batch, so whatever.

Pours slightly cloudy with a medium-small white head. Lots of fine, slow carbonation. Smell is muted, but delicious. Grassy, piney, fresh, floral, very nice.

Taste is mellow, but very pleasant. Round, soft malty flavor riding a nice hoppy pininess, plenty of bitterness, lots of honeysuckle sweetness. I like this a lot.

Mouthfeel is smooth, unassuming, pleasant. Overall, I'm pretty impressed. I like this beer a lot.

Even additionally more great thanks to beertunes for some righteous, Washinton love.

A dark gold, barely cloudy, gem in my glass. A sparkly off white topper now is a lively ring and skim.

Med. strength aroma, full of the range of sweet citrus, esp. orange and tangerine, neutral sweet, lightest hints of pine and cracker.

More pine in the mouth, right up front, resinous and fresh, It is joined by pure herbal bitter, citrus rind, and some light caramel. Much less sweet citrus in the taste, but it is there behind the scenes, with neutral sweet, trying to keep the sip on the rails. Yumm

Medium/full body, nice light carb., highly viscous, really coating finish, yet quite refreshing

Very tasty brew I am stoked to be drinking solo due to no one is available to share it today, not ashamed to admit. Best of its class? No. Highly recommended? Hell yes

22oz into a tulip. Pours a slightly hazy copper color w/ a fluffy white head, good sticky lacing.

Aroma is juicy, citrusy and tropical with grapefruit, mango, and pine. Exactly the smell I hope for in a fresh hop beer.

Taste follows nose. Dry pale crackery malt serves as a relatively neutral canvas to feature the delicious, juicy, resinous hops. Grapefruit rind, orange, tangerine, pine, and tons of hop oils with a crisp, bitter finish that's still balanced and drinkable.

Mouthfeel is balanced and medium-bodied, again, thirst-quenching and refreshing.

Overall a solid IPA that I'd drink all year if I could.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a lightly hazy orangeish yellow color with less than 1/2 inch of just off-white head that had moderate retention and lacing.

The aroma was, as expected, extremely hop forward. Lots of citrus, floral and pine scents, and no real malt in the nose. The flavor profile was the same, no malt, and tons of fresh, juicy hops. The beer was very crisp, and had a dry finish.

The body was the typical medium of the style, perhaps a touch on the lighter side of average. Drinkability was crazy good, pints disappeared almost instantly. Overall, a beer that will certainly cure your hop jones. A must try if you see it during it's too-short life.
