This new brewpub is apparently continuing on in a new capacity building off of what was previously the Sycamore Market in downtown Kokomo. I believe they sold a nice selection of micro brews previously among other foodstuff but now it's been taken to a new and improved level. The new digs include available pub grub, musical entertainment some evenings, a great selection of draft beers of their own making as well as from other micro brewers like Allagash White, Avery porter, Barley Island Dirty Helen, Bells Oberon and 2 Hearted, Brugge Black, Dark Horse blueberry stout, Dogfish 90, Flying Dog Double Dog, Lindemans Framboise, Murphys stout, Three Floyds Gumball and Behemoth and Alpha King and 9 different Brass Monkey brews. I was only able to have one, the 3 Floyds barleywine and it was very fresh, served in a proper glass (and one of the best barleywines I've ever had!). The food was fairly ordinary but not bad. Mostly sandwiches, pork, chicken and even catfish. The fries were good and the service was friendly with quick turn for our party of 8. The place is good sized going from front to back of an old downtown building. What appears to be an original tin ceiling, decorated in a loose retro look. It's pretty spacious and accommodates live music pretty regularly (apparently lots of blues/rock/folk). I was very pleased with this place and especially excited to be able to take out bottled beer from a selection of many good micros in the cooler behind the counter. I brought home some Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree that I sure wish I had bought more of since I live in Connecticut where I can't get it. Also snagged some Barfly & Three Floyds brews to go. The take out beer was a little pricey but well worth it. There is a small bar area near the front although it wasn't clear if there really is a "bar", just tables by the look of it. Bathroom was clean. This is a great complement to the more food oriented Half-Moon across town, both places being huge upgrades to the beer culture of greater Kokomo! I did not have a chance to sample the Brass Monkey brews but look forward to that next trip.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Mike whom had an extensive knowledge of the beer they had available. It turns out Mike is the owner. He answered every question we could possibly think of without hesitation and gave us a private tour of the brewery. It turns out they have been brewing on only a one barrel system for quite some time and just recently installed a 3 barrel system (they really put the micro in microbrew).

The atmosphere of this place was sort of colonial, very old time brick building and traditional wood furniture. It had some interesting art work and other hangings on the walls as well. Very cool place inside indeed and seemed family friendly.

The beer was quite good and very diverse; there truly was something for everyone. Due to their small system they do a lot of one and dones and recipe tweaking. In addition to their 10 or so draft offerings, Brass Monkey had an additional 10 or so guest drafts (all of which were quality). They also had a relatively extensive bottle list which was quality as well.

Split the chili Nachos with a friend and was impressed. The menu was typical pub fare and then some. The menu also featured some burgers and sandwiches for under $4.00, a rare find indeed. If it says anything, I saw somebody come in to pick up take out. The rest of the food must be decent enough to crave and pick up for the whole family.

I expect good things from this place in the future and understand that the brewer has already taken several prestigious rewards for his brews.
