Marlborough Wine & Spirits Co is located on route 20 west, right down the street from 495 heading towards Northborough. (not to be confused with Marlborough Wine & Beer Co, which was this stores old location, on the other side of Marlborough near Firefly's) This is your typical big warehouse type liquor store focusing on everything. The location is brand new and feels like it as everything is impeccably clean and bright. They sell a vast assortment of liquor, wine, assorted snacks and glassware, and have wine tasting on a regular basis. This is actually the sister store of Acton Wine & Spirit Co.
Single beer is located in one half of an aisle, in the back. The whole back wall is coolers filled with an assortment of 6 packs as well. The last time I was in here in the beer shelves they had the BA top 100 printed up and presented nicely on some cardstock cardboard with the beers they carried highlighted. A very nice touch. Beer selection is outstanding for the area. A full assortment of American Craft, Belgians, Germans, macros, englishand then some. Bear Republic, Stone, Hoppin' Frog, Port Brewing, Great Divide, Southern Tier, Chimay, etc, etc. My last time in I picked up a 4 pack of St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout and Stone Double Bastard. Prices have started inching higher since they first opened making it a bit pricey.
When you're out in this neck of the woods, everything is a drive, and with Julio's in Westborough only another 10-15 minutes down the road, going any place else seems absurd. But, Marlborough Wine & Spirits easily makes me think twice about going to Julios. Prices and Selection are outstanding, maybe not as vast as Julios, but pretty damn good. This place may easily rank in the top 10 best liquor stores in MA right up with Julios, Downtown WS, and Marty's.

A craft beer haven that seems to be missed by many craft beer drinkers. A good section of the store is dedicated to craft beer, the "beer guy" Tom is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the store is clean and well-organized. New releases are always arriving and there's plenty of hard-to-find stuff. Especially when places like Julio's sell out of special releases quickly, this is the place to stop by as it is missed by the majority.
Great selection of New England brews and all kinds of stuff from many West Coast and Midwest breweries. And of course, a great European presence, from the quintessential English and German brews to shelves of Belgians.
Not much else to say. You gotta check it out.

For the selection they have, I really didn't find them to be overpriced. I am a local who loves this joint. I traveled from the distance of the previous store which was across town. But let me tell you, if you like good beers, they have a rotating stock - which is much more than Julio's can say, or well I'll say about Julio's that is. Not an old beer in the house.
Anytime I've wanted something they've had it. They were the first to actually carry Mikkeller products and get them onto the shelves in this area which made me very happy since I am a Beer Geek. I love how the store is laid out, nice end caps full of local picks and coolers and coolers of cases and big bottles to take home and enjoy faster.
For service, well it's you're typical idea of beer - it's as good to you, as you are to it. I noticed that with the staff, the nicer you are - the more you get. They'll always throw you a glass if they got one, or give you heads up on the next good tasting thats about to happen that week. Which brings me to my favorite part about this place. They have beer and wine tastings every Friday, but if they get something new in, there's usually some of it at the bar ready to go for any returning friendly face.
Stop thru this store and I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied. They might not monopolize the market, so yes you may pay a couple cents more for a bottle or two, but at least you know you're getting it from a place that will actually take care of you in the long run, rather than just try to get your cash every week.

After Julios this is my "goto" place for quality beer. They get in all the specialty beers, and tons of imports and micros. Imports from all over the place, lots from U.K., Germany, Belgium, and even Baltic region beers. The even have some older stock beers in, such as some old Cantillons, Port Santa's Helper from 2008, DFH WWS, and many other pre-aged.
They are very friendly and will help whenever they can. Tastings on every Friday help too. They will often order something specific if they don't have it in stock either (provided they can get it). I've even gone in and someone tells me they saved a bottle of some rare release just for me without having to ask, as I frequent the place quite a bit.
The only issue comes in with pricing. They tend to be a little more expensive than most places, adding an extra $ or 2 for most beers. Many beers they are competitive but most seem to be a little more on the pricey side. They also don't have mix-match 6-pack deals, but do provide some of their own pre-mixed 6-packs.
If you're in the area, or even taking a special trip out to Julios I would recommend taking another 5 min detour and stopping here. They will have some more rare and aged beers since this place is much less known. They will also have special releases longer since less people know it exists.

This is clearly one of my two favorite stores for Beer. When I am in Metro-west my first stop is always to Marlboro Wine & Spirits. The story here begins and ends with customer service. Their manager, Craig, could not be a more accommodating and knowledgeable guy.
They have a great selection of both imported and American craft beers. Really nice Belgian selection. Prices are always decent.
This store seems to really be placing a great emphasis on craft beers and is really building a nice following. I've been real impressed with the selection of beers that are available here.
If/when you are in the area it is a must stop. I guarantee you, you'll be impressed with Craig's hospitality and knowledge.
A great "go to" place for craft beer.

Marlboro Wine & Spirits would have left a much more favorable impression in my mind had I not stopped in on my way home from Julio's (it's located less than 10 minutes away). The selection is really good, but not as great as Julio's. The service was average at best. I had to wait in line for a while and the clerk wasn't friendly at all. The beer aisles are clean and well organized. The prices are definitely higher than Julio's (plus, you get the discount at J's if you buy 6 or more bottles). With all that being said, if Marlboro W & S was located anywhere else, it would be an amazing store.
