a- Cloudy yellow haze with an almost non-existent head that to me is unappealing and might make some not want to drink it.

s- Sour apple with a sweet finish. Simple and good, but I feel like they could have done a little more with the style.

t- Light sour sip followed by a sweet wheat finish with not even a hint of bitterness. It's delicious, but I just expect a little more variety.

m- An easy crisp smooth refreshing light beer. It feels like a beer should in the style.

o- If you are looking for a simple light sweet wheat beer Franconia Wheat Beer is the beer for you. Taste is king and it does have that.

Pouring to a yellow/gold color, this wheat beer has a nose of yeast and light wheat. The body of the beer is cloudy and it does contain some sediment in the bottom of each bottle. There is little foam on this beer, even with a strong pour.

Franconia Wheat has a taste you would expect in this type of beer: Wheat, yeast, banana, bread, and some light spice. The beer is easy- drinking, low in bitterness, and makes a good choice when you want beer, but prefer something a little easier on the palate and stomach.

One quality about this beer that surprised me is its lack of much foam. Even an aggressive pouring effort doesn’t get the bubbles flowing like you would expect. The other lesson learned is that, due to the sediment in the bottom of each bottle, it is best to pour out most but not all of the bottle, shake what is left, then pour into your glass to better distribute the yeast. Not only will the beer look better in your glass, it will taste better too.

A good hefeweizen can really hit the spot and Franconia has created a good tasting hefeweizen with this product. It isn’t going to blow you away with unique flavor attributes or anything else, but it does have what it takes to please the palate and it makes a good session hefeweizen.

It pours a pale, murky yellow color with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma kind of off for a wheat beer but not bad, i picked up the typical wheat, banana, grass and lemon but it seemed kind of weak. Tastes kind of sour buth with lemon and grass and a hint of banana. Feels thinner than it should with not enough carbonation. Not bad, but could be better.

Just tried this as a recommendation, honestly it's not bad, though not all of its aspects lived up to the way it looks and taste, one it has that hazy wheat beer look but lacks the thinkness you would expect when drinking. The smell was odd, but not awful.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a weizen.

A: Hazy, dark golden hue. Pours a 1 finger, bubbly white head, which quickly dissipates. Lots of rising effervescence, and small pockets of carbonation cling to the sides of the glass. Slight lacing.

S: Yeast, a little lemon citrus, coriander, and... walnut?

T: A little yeast, very wheaty. Also, a very noticeable honey-ish sweetness... not strong, but distinct. A little savory spice for balance.

M: Starchy feel. Light, but thick. Wheat and sweet in the front, bready in the finish.

D: Session, but worth savoring.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Fair head, lots of carbonation, and some slight lacing. Nose is sourdough bread with lemon, spice, and nut components. Very wheaty with some distinct honey sweetness and spice. Thick and starchy. Overall, this is a really nice quaff.

On tap at Garland, TX. Pours hazy-golden with long lasting, fluffy, tall, white head. Aroma is of what malt, yeast and banana. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is of yeast, wheat malt, spices and strange fruit. Finish is long with strange aftertaste. I would not buy this brew again.

My buddy got a keg for his wedding. Never heard of this beer but apparently it's only available in Texas?

A - The beer was poured from tap to a weizen. The beer pours a dark yellow golden haze. 1 finger white foamy head. Good retention and lacing throughout.

S - A nice citrus/lemon!!! The lemon character is easily the strongest aspect of the nose and unlike any other hefeweizen I've had. Hints of the Hefeweizen yeast and malty sweetness as well. No alcohol detected.

T - Just like the nose the fruity aspect of the beer is most prevalent and dominates, but in a pleasing way. The malty sweetness and yeast take a back seat though fairly well balanced beer. Mild bitterness. Finishes crisp and clean with a lingering lemon flavor.

M - Well carbonated and light bodied.

O - Nice surprise! Sure helps with the triple digit heat, I could drink this all day long. Very good.

I had the great opportunity to visit Franconia brewery tour. The owner Dennis is a very knowledgeable and funny guy. The tour was very interesting and the best part is the all you could drink beer after.

An opaque orange cloudy color, with great head retention.

Smells sweet with a hint of bananas.

You could really tast the bananas and it wheat flavor of the beer. It is the German beer its suppose to be.

It's well-carbonated, gritty, but creamy feel as it pours down your throat.

This was my personal favorite out of all the beers I tasted at Franconia Brewery. I wish they were big enough to distribute to the Bay Area.

If you're in the Dallas, TX area, please take the time to visit this brewery. The beers are great.

On draft into a pint glass.

A finger white head sits atop a cloudy body of golden goodness. A little bit of lacing is left throughout the glass.

I don't pick up much in the nose but there is some wheat and banana.

This is a great tasting hefe. Loads and loads of banana pop out.

Has a wonderful creamy mouthfeel.

Yummy in my tummy.

On tap at the Holy Grail Pub. Served as Franconia Hefeweizen.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a decent-sized white head. The aroma is full of wheat with some banana and spicy clove notes. The flavor is very creamy and is full of banana flavor. There is a little bit of clove in the flavor, but it hides behind the banana and wheat. Creamy, medium mouthfeel and low carbonation. A very nice Texas-brewed hefeweizen.

Served on tap at Il Cane Rosso in the Deep Ellum district of Dallas.
Appearance: straw colored, translucent, possessing a moderate head with medium lacing.
Nose: light notes of coriander and citrus and a distinct 'witbier' aroma.
Flavor: slightly grassy and somewhat tart with citrus and coriander once again.
Mouth-feel: pleasant, but not exceptional.
Drinkability: excellent.

Overall this is a very enjoyable brew, and is very true to the European wheat beer style. My sole lament is that this beer is currently only available in Texas and Oklahoma. I will have to return.

S: Banana and bready malt.
T: Banana, cloves and wheat bread.
M: Smooth and clean feel.
D: Would make a great hot weather beer, but I'll still drink them now anyway.

Had this on-tap at Texan Station restaurant inside the Gaylord Texan Resort, Grapevine, TX.

A: Beautiful golden hue that turned slightly amber under certain light. About a finger of white, foamy head.

S: Gorgeous lemon zest (fresh, not like from a cleaning product). Lemons, lemons, and more lemons, mixed with some yeast and and overall floral undertone.

T: Strong, radiant lemon flavor which gives it an upbeat, effervescent taste. Yeast stays in the background just to provide some backing.

M: Actively carbonated; tingles the tongue.

D: I could sip this all day. Too bad Franconia isn't around where I live (Maryland).

Golden straw, big pillowy head that overflows the glass. Smell is more lemony than banana, but the banana is still present. Taste is quite fresh, some banana, minimal clove, tons of lemon. Not creamy live Live Oak's, but still has a satisfactory mouthfeel. Perfect beer for the texas heat.

I'm not sure these guys even have a bottling line?

It shows up cloudy pale gold w/ a hint of lace & head. It smells of lemon, sugar, and oranges. The taste is sweet wheat malt, very balanced, and very refreshing. In a word...NICE! The mouthfeel is soft, with slight carbonation. The drinkability is very good, very refreshing, and balanced. Very nice outing for a new brewery.

At the Addison Flying Saucer. It features a modest head with a nice cloudy gold color. The aroma is modest, with some light fruity scent The body is soft and creamy, with vanilla fruitiness... could use more phenols for a good balance. Reminds me quite a bit of Flying Dog's wheat beer. Not bad, but not quite what I look for in a hefe.

A : Pours a hazy murky golden color with a good head that stuck around. Good lacing left on the glass.

S : Good banana smell, not much on the cloves. The wheat malt is also present.

T : Here's where the cloves stand out. An intense clove flavor with slight banana notes. The wheat flavor is there as well.

M : Smooth with good carbonation

D : I couldn't believe this wasn't a hefeweizen from Germany. I didn't know they could be made like this in the US. A great example of a hefeweizen that I could drink on a hot summer day with no problem.

A - Pours a translucent murky honey/gold with a two finger white head that hung around for awhile before fading to a light ring.

S - Fruity and grainy. Lots of great banana scent with some wheat and spice.

T - Nice wheat, banana, and clove flavor. Clove rules the beer.

M - Murky with an excellent carbonation.

D - Nice hefe. Even when I attempt to remove local bias I have to admit that this is one of the better hefes I have had.

Very solid beer. Full flavored hefeweizen with lots of fruity elements to it. Comes out a nice cloudy orange with a good head from the tap. Leaves a bunch of lace. Smell is that of a wheat beer, very biscuty. Not a watered down wheat beer at all. Very smooth and easy drinking. A great first effort from Franconia.
