Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The brew pours a deep copper golden amber color with almost no head. The head fades almost instantly leaving a touch of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a roasty and toasty malt smell mixed with lots of caramel and toffee as well as some harvest fruits of apple and pear. Along with these aromas comes some light earthy smells and a bit of hay.
Taste – The taste begins with a very malt heavy roasted bready flavor that is paired with some lighter caramel and brown sugar sweetness. At the same time there is a little bit of apple and pear and a touch of cola. The roastiness and malt get a bit stronger at the end and leave one with a quite malt heavy, at least for a 5 % abv., flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew very thick and heavy for a 5 % abv drink, with a carbonation level that is very low. The mouthfeel did not really do much good, accentuating the overly malty body while not really adding any carbonation to make it more refreshing and drinkable.
Overall – I was expecting much more from this brew, but it let me down. Not one I would come back to again. At 5 % way too malty (even for a brew that is supposed to be malty) with not much balance.

From a bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a lacing of bubbles. Sweet, toasted malt smell. Medium feel. Big toasted malt flavor with some caramel sweetness. A very malt-forward Oktoberfest.

I purchased half a dozen or more Oktoberfest beers this week and this was the worst tasting of the bunch.
It has a sour taste to it. Something really awful.
I hate to say it, but this is first beer that I will throw out after drinking half the bottle.

I alway enjoy trying this beer to see how it changes year to year. Always malty. Always delicious. Doesn't have much head when poured from a bottle. I think last time I had it was on draft.

Terrible experience...tasted like the beer had gone bad. Reminded me of rotten raspberries and had an awful aftertaste.
