Poured into a standard pint, this dark amber beer features a slow forming but dense half-inch of foam on top of it. The aroma is nicely bready, with notes of toasted crust, and a little whiff of caramel. Flavorwise, it emphasizes the malt, which is well-rounded and complex. Hop bitterness is low, leaving the impression of a fair amount of sweetness. Neutral with regard to yeast, and body that's full but not heavy.

A: Pours a clear dark copper/orange color. A two finger white head forms with good retention. Some sticky and patchy lace is left behind.
S: Toasted malt up front. A light toffee like sweetness. Floral hops linger. Grassy and lightly herbal. A substantial citrus hops aroma and bitterness lingers.
T: Follows the nose with toasted malt up front and a caramel/toffee sweetness. A chocolaty flavor as well. Earthy and spicy yeast. Substantial hop presents. Citrus, floral, and grassy. Pink grapefruit that leaves a very light lingering bitterness. Lots of subtle flavor that are excellent.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. Really crisp, incredibly clean, and smooth. Very easy to drink. The 7% ABV is well hidden. I had know problem finishing my pint, and could easily had another
I am not an expert in this style, but it is the best that I have had so far. Lots of flavor and character. Franconia has really impressed me, they continue to make subtle and very enjoyable German style beers. I would not expect anything else from a brewery named Franconia. They are living up to my expectations. I highly recommend this.

Had this one on tap at the Flying Saucer in Addison.
The beer pours a brownish-orange color with a white head. The aroma is bready malt with some floral hops. The flavor is pretty complex with some grapes, flowers, bready malt and some spices. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not bad.
