Pours murky burnt brown orange with a chunky off white head. Some lace.

Some pine in the nose, but the toasted malt shines. Wanted it to have more hop aroma, but it still works.

More malt than hops, but the hops are there. Nice and juicy, with great toasty malt and bread crust notes. A little burnt bread bitterness, balanced by sticky hop mouth coating presence. Finishes malty and medium bitter. Very nice.

Medium body, nice carbonation.

Great beer from this small brewer. Glad I scored a bottle.

single, The Beer Shoppe, Ardmore

a: first off - love the label art, twelve ounce bottle into an avery snifter, the pour brings out a light but full coating of off-white head, receding to a smattering on the surface, the beer itself a dark honey amber in color

s: lots of sweet, rich caramel malt and fruity hops on the nose, notes of baked apples, sweet potato, sweet citrus pulp, more fresh caramel, pineapple, and fresh hop resin

m: medium, malty body with a light-medium, delicate carbonation

t: mostly follows suit with the aroma...a tasty, sweet caramel malt body blends with hop juices and flavors of apple, pineapple, and sweet citrus, a resin bitterness begins shortly after the swallow and slowly builds to around moderate strength in the finish

o: as stated on the website the brewer’s intent was to create a balanced, malt fueled ipa without an overwhelmingly bitter aftertaste, and while an atypical ipa, I think it works and would certainly go for another, could have gone higher elsewhere but I'll tack those points on here

Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head ale glass.

Very dark for an IPA, but a good reddish caramel brown color, with a three finger very creamy head that is evenly formed. Settles to a good finger sized even puck, with some minor floaties in the bottom.

Nice soft biscuit like malt, and a faint floral/herbal hop angle that is subtle. Hints of matching malt like cream and soft pine as well. Not hop forward but solid.

Palate fills with a good tea like sweetness and a nice leafy hop finish. Solid body that coats the mouth and palate fully. Tea like sweetness matches with a little bit of light pine bitter on the aftertaste that really lingers. Caramel like malts match with a nice balance to compliment as well.

Not your hop heads typical go nuts over IPA, but a very solid good one. Enjoyed this.

Much love for this beer, but damn what's up with the floating sediment?

Flavor-wise I love the English-leaning malt profile, works well with the American IPA liveliness and astringency. Nice to have a drinkable IPA that is bitter without being citrusy, just for a change of pace from most of the IPAs I get down with.

There is a massive amount of sediment in this beer.

Overall, it's kind of a was of flavor. Thick malts with spiced tones on there and a bit of a burn from who knows what. Thicker feel. Eh. This beer is just, "there." Nothing overly interesting or noteworthy.
