Pours a darkish brown color with a frothy toasted khaki head. Some big bubbles in the head.
The aroma is of mild chocolate and toasted pumpernickel. Solid caramel sweetness. Some wet wood. Very solid porter aroma.
The taste is of a toasted dark bread. Milk and bakers chocolate mix with an espresso like bitterness. Nice earthy flavors; a bit woody. Some caramel sweetness.
The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation. Mainly bitter on the palate; a bit powdery.
A nice robust porter. Good earthy flavors.

Looks better than offered by way of taste. Most satisfying part is unsweetened chocolate finish. Just not a whole lot there.

Pours real dark, subtle muted scents of chocolate, toasted bread. Caramel cocoa and chocolate, mocha like aftertaste. Medium body on the tongue. It's an ok porter

On tap at Relish in Kings Park, NY; pours pitch black color with a small tan head that faded slowly and left good spotty lacing coating the sides.
Smells of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, charred wood, dark fruit, roasted malts, brown sugar and molasses. Sweet overall with a nice amount of chat and burnt notes.
Tastes like it smells but there's more piney hops that are bitter, sweet citrus notes, caramel, dark chocolate, brown sugar, cocoa powder, charred wood, dark fruit, roasted malts, herbs, mild earthy spices and molasses.
Mouthfeel is thin and watery with very mild carbonation and a creamy feel that slides across the tongue; aftertaste is slightly bitter and sweet, kind of like a roasted port wine with some hoppy notes. Overall a very good beer which is not typical for the style as there are a bunch of different complexities that make this stand out. Very nice local offering for me, I'll seek this out again.
