bigger place than it looks like. large patio/deck area. pretty dead when i went. normal looking bar i suppose, nothing really stood out. decent draft and bottle selection, mostly american craft and belgians. service was fine. they were out of some things. what i had on tap was fine, unfortunately served in a shaker pint though. didn't try the food. prices seemed reasonable from what i recall. glad to have gone here considering the selection at most bars in this town, although there was nothing spectactular about this place.

Join the beer club and get a ten percent discount if you have over 100 beers - 15 percent at 200 and +more with more beers on your list. I could be slightly off, but this was a pretty great thing to see at a bar so close that I had not been to. Monster Bs is tucked away on a side road in Stamford, nice location IMO, where you do not get the amateur college crowd etc.

Great selection of draft beer while I was there and need to go back soon. Great aged bottle collection as well.
Brooklyn Manhattan Project
2007 Old Stock from North Coast
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot aged from 08 etc
Pennichuck Barleywine
Thomas Hooker NorEaster
Avery Collaboration
Old Rasputin
Unibroue La Fin Du Monde

etc etc etc , they have a lot of beers and as long as you talk to one of the bartenders who really knows his stuff you will be pleased. I was not completely disappointed with a different worker, just thought they didnt quite have the menu memorized which is no small feat in itself.

Will definitely be going back

Here's the details, they have 30 mostly quality taps and a huge and impressive bottle options list. Giving the BA plenty of worthy options. Large screens by the bar, makes this place a good one for a game. Multiple rooms, pool table in one off em. Out door deck area for warm weather visits options. Fun and friendly, casual place. I tried the fish tacos which were nicely done, fresh and tasty with a nice spicy bite. Wings, burger, sand wedges, pub grub etc.
Taps included:
Several from Blue Point
Captain lawrence
DFH (3 including WWS)
Great Divide
Rogue
Sierra Nevada (2 non pale ale selections)
Brooklyn BCS
North Coast
Magic Hat

Well worth a visit if in the area

I just moved to Stamford and am a beer geek. I was looking for a good beer spot and was directed to Monster B's by the owner of my local beer shop. I have been probaly a dozen times since. It's the only place in Stamford I have found with a good beer selection. The food is good, nothing fancy but decent for the price.

On to the beer, they have about 20 to 30 taps that rotate on a pretty regular basis. They mainly featuer beers from the new england and mid atlantic area and have some pretty good beers. I have had Palm, Dogfish Head Midas Touch, Weyerbacher Quad and Triple, and Brooklyn Chocolate Stout among many others on draught. The bottle list is about 130 beers I think. Its a pretty nice list mainly American micros and a few belgium and other Europen beers. They a have a very limted number of large bottels i.e. 750ml and up.

On to the staff, they are very friendly! If you go for the beer go on a week night or during the day and afternoon when its not so busy. During this time the staff knows alot more about the beer and will give suggestions and somtimes samples and the beer is served in the proper glass and stemware! The weekend nights are busier and you are likly to get your Duvel served in a pint glass!

On to the place, its nice and laid back. Cool wood bar and paneling. Huge stone fierplace for when its cold out! A lot of cool metal beer signs cover the walls. They have a couple of pool tables and dart machines along with a bunch of t.v.'s including one thats like 5 feet above the fierplace! My favorite thing is the happy hour Mon.-Fri. 4:00pm-8:00pm all draughts are only $3 even the Belguims! Nice huge outdoor deck where you can eat and hang out and live music almost every night of the week.

All in all its a cool place to hang out if you are a beer geek like me. If you are in the area stop by for a beer and a burger! Cheers!

I grew up in Stamford, CT but now live in Boston., My parents, who still live in Stamford, took me to Monster B's because they knew my wife and I enjoyed beer. The bar is located in the Glenbrook area of Stamford kind of off the beaten path. It looks pretty nondescript on the outside with a nice outdoor deck next to the parking lot. We entered through the bar area and were pleased with what we saw. A large bar to the right with lots of taps at the ready. To the left a series bar tables. The walls were decorated with typical bar-fare. At the end of the bar was a large projection TV and there were smaller flat screens hung around the room. The other sections of the bar consisted of tables for sit down dining and a smaller room that has two pool table and an entrance to the deck.

The four of us sat to the left at the bar tables and were immediately waited on. The beers were in good condition and served in traditional pint glasses. (On a side note, I did talk with the general manager and he said they they would like to add different types of glassware for different styles in the future.) Soon after, our food was served. My wife and I got some very good burgers that we were both really pleased with. With the meal we split a beer sampler. One of the four beers was "Monster B's Bass Ass" beer which is brewed by Magic Hat for Monster B's.

Overall I really enjoyed this place and will definitely return in the future when visiting the folks.

Monster B`s is in Stamford right near the Darien border in a sleepier section of the city. Its neat to have a bar in Stamford where at "peak hours" you don`t have to fight tooth and nail to order a beer. The flip side of course is that this a not a great spot to see cute girls, which is a downer.
Moving to the beer though, a very good selection is to be had hear with two dozen taps or maybe more and a fairly large bottle list. The servers are very friendly, although as mentioned earlier, some know far less about beer, glassware than you. The food is good, but kinda expensive for bar food. Overall, a fun place with good beer that is worth checking out.
