Eastman's is always worth a stop because of the random shelf beers that you can get there. The GI sisters stuck around for a few weeks, all of the Bourbon County variants came in, Backstage releases, and lots of limited stuff passes through. However, if you don't find anything like that, then you're left with a mediocre selection of (usually old) Michigan locals.
The place is almost always packed, since most people seem to be there for the wine and cheese (both outstanding selections, by the way). The store doesn't have a lot of floor space, so getting around can sometimes be difficult, but it's not terribly unpleasant.
Most of the staff is happy to assist with questions, but, as another reviewer pointed out, the employees tend to be a little snobbish. It's difficult to get information out of them beyond a one or two word answer. It's hit or miss though, since I've had employees go to the back to get something for me, and others who refuse to offer more information than they think necessary.
Finally, you definitely pay for the selection. Everything there is at least a dollar more than it should be.

Eastman Party Store has a decent selection of Craft Brews and the personnel are helpful if asked. Unfortunately, our city is a bit snobbish and they seem to follow suit, but there are a couple of employees that are very helpful and engaging. The prices are higher than an in town competitor, but they do offer wines, specialty foods, and specialty deli meats that the other store does not provide. They also advertise more that their competitor, so newer release information comes over the radio and they do a good job of letting you know when they will be available at the store if you ask.

I just moved from the south suburbs of Chicago out to Midland, MI for school and am used to Binny's Beverage Depot (God's gift to winos and hop-heads everywhere) so my review may be a bit jaded.
I have been coming here for a few weeks and have found expired six packs on several occasions. How do I trust those beers who don't give a brewed on/drink by date?
Selection is decent but you pay for it, $2 - 3 extra. Thankfully the local Wal-Mart sells Great Lakes and Bells Brewery - believe it or not - and I only come to Eastman's when I'm in the mood for a good IPA.
