Poured out of the cask at Church Key in DC into a wine goblet. Ale matured in American Oak Barrels for three months that once aged Woodford Reserve Bourbon.

Poured with no head and a small tan collar. Dark cherry body red with real nice hues. Pretty solid looking.

Smell is very muted. High on alcohol heat and somewhat closed. What little there is there is a predominance of mixed heat and carbon char. Not too exciting here.

Taste is slight butter and vanilla and caramel, but mostly a bitterish boozy feeling. Very light bodied. Feels like weak proofed whiskey and taste mostly of just sharp alcohol. Wet bodied a little.

Overall, not a bad start but this feels like it needs much more aging. It's too boozy and wet bodied, not much of the character of bourbon aging comes through on this it seems too young. It would be a little easier drinking but it's to hoot and not alcohol masked enough, it needs to age longer to mellow out.
