S: Strong aroma of toasted malts, along with coffee and dark chocolate.

T: Much like the aroma, the taste features bittersweet chocolates, roasted malts and coffee. Little to no hop flavors. Very pleasant.

M: Smooth, with a medium amount of carbonation. The aftertaste is of bittersweet chocolate.

O: A delightful and easy drinking porter.

Pours a half finger of tan head on a black body.
The aroma is mostly burnt malt and wood.
The taste is a smooth burnt and roasted malt with a mild lemon bitter finish.
The texture is smooth with crisper edges and moderate carbonation.
A nice solid drinkable porter. Enjoyable.

Reddish cast to the dark brown brew in the St. Bernardus globe. Not much foam. Some carbonation in the mouth but it all flattens out after a while. A little red wine in the nose with the malty smell.

Dark and a little zingy, with lots of the mild roast and caramel. Not very sweet. Some grainy taste and a faint hint of charred barley. A faint bitterness and the dark woody notes for the aftertaste. Watery body.

This has some charms but it's probably better on tap from a fressh keg. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Market of Choice on 29th in Eugene.

Pours a dark brown with a thick creamy tan colored head that dissipated into thin wispy streams floating around my pint glass.

The smell was strong with coffee and chocolate. There are hints of nutty and some hidden dark fruit scents as well.

Taste was slightly off from what I would expect from a porter, maybe there was just more going on in the flavor than I expected. There were definite coffee and chocolate notes and some nice bitter finish but there was also a bit more nuttiness than I would expect from a porter. Also a tad on the sweet side for me. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it I just don't think it was on-style.

Mouthfeel was nice considering the lower ABV. I enjoyed the level of carbonation and over all thought it was nice.

Great beer, not exactly on style in my opinion but very good overall.

I bought a bottle of Pin Up Porter in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours and opaque black color, with a thin bubbly off-white head.

Smell is a roasted gran aroma with some coffee notes along side.

The taste is a sweetened black coffee flavor up front, coffee with sugar no cream, followed by a sweet caramel and plum flavor, with a mild bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly cloying.

Over all a good porter, but not a great one.

This porter was had in a glass stein.

Appearance- An opaque dark brown body, this is appropriate for the style. I also like the inch wide layer of milk chocolate foam.

Smell- At first, this porter gives off aromas of cocoa powder and some roasted malt. After a little bit of swirlin', the chocolate becomes more pronounced and there is a bready, nutty note too.

Taste- I thought this was a porter? Where did this brown ale come from? The nuttiness and sweet malt are very pronounced. And without any real roasted qualities, or even a little bit of acidity, I guess this is what porters begin to taste like. I also weep for the cocoa that never was on the palate, like it was in the olfactory holes.

Mouth feel- This is a big medium body and REALLY creamy. Sure, this is carbonation that has been crafted to perfection like a samurai sword from Hattori Hanzo. However, the slightly cloying quality of the malt is only enhanced by the heft of this beer.

Overall- Pin-up Porter, you had me enraptured with your fine looks. Looks will only get you so far though, sweet heart. And looks don't amount to a hill of beans in this world if you don't have the flavors to back it up.
