From a 16 ounce can. Pours hazy gold with a small white head. A few clumps of lacing.
Smell is apple peels, some cracker malts.
Taste is bitter euro hops with a big hit of sweet malts. Might be a touch of corn in the sweetness.
Mouthfeel is pretty full for the style, plenty of carbonation and has a light bitter finish.
Overall a good attempt at the Czech Pilsener. Easy drinking refreshing beer. No brewed date but it is in a can. My advice bump up the hops a bit or back off on the sweetness.

After the first bottle of my shipment was flat, I was wary of the other two. But this one looks a lot more promising in my glass...

22 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a golden amber color with surprising haziness for the style - it appears fairly clear until the light refracts directly onto the glass, actually. There also appears to be a few yeast particles floating around. The head is a nicely creamy one finger white color. Okay retention is featured here, but I love the textured lacing left behind on the glass.

S: Rather sweet for a Czech pils - hitting on the fruitier, almost citrusy malt and ester qualities. Beneath that is a layer of zesty, grassy hop funk. Decent, but I wish it had more hops and less malts.

T: That's weird, this tastes a bit adjuncty...not a massive presence, but it does seem to feature a bit of corn on the opening flavors. Ah well, some pilsners DO feature a small fraction of corn/rice in the mash, so I can't char-grill it too much. There are a lot of bready, grainy malts (in slight conjunction with the subtle presence of yeast and corn), as well, while the finish has touches of grassy hops. Given a stronger hop bill, this could be great, but instead has to settle for 'fairly good'.

M: Not as clean and dry as I like my pilsners. The finish is a bit on the sweet side, and it generally sits on the tongue too heavily. Drinkability is solid, but it lacks the "OMIGAWD I JUST CHUGGED A PITCHER OF BEER IN 1 MINUTE" qualities the best in the style feature. Middling carbonation.

O: I prefer a crisper, bone dry pils (see: Prima Pils, Pilsner Urquell when it's not skunked), but this one's fine for what it is - though it comes across more like an American pre-prohibition pils than a Czech one. The problem here is that it seems to shoot for having some complexity instead of just being simple refreshment...and falls short at both. Still, I'd use this to wean newbs on to craft beer, if I lived in Oregon that is.

22oz picked up today at Brewer's Haven Boise for about $4.50... Poured tonight into a standard tulip... 1" white head has good resiliency and leaves good spotty lacing. The brew is almost perfectly clear golden. Thick cookie maltiness that needs a more hops and bitterness to balance better.. a bit too much sulfur that never seems to dissipate. Body is a little thick for the style... carbonation seems fine. Okay drinkability, just needs to be dialed in.

Bomber into standard pint. Served at fridge temp (roughly 46 degrees F)

A: Golden straw color that got about one finger of thin white head. Small bubbles that didn't retain very well, it faded into a very thin ring around the glass. Looks pretty good, not amazing but good.

S: Hoppy for sure, a good dose of pilsner hops. Not overwhelming. A good amount of pale malt in there too. Smells crisp and refreshing. Lagar yeast in there too.

T: Just like the nose, nice crisp hop character and a little bit of rich golden malt. Not bitter at all. As refreshing as it smells. A touch of minerally aftertaste. I like it.

M: Tad thicker than I am used to for lagers but I am unfamiliar with Czech Pilsners. Light carbonation and a light mouth feel with just a bit of oily thickness. The little bit of oiliness keeps it from being too much like seltzer which is disappointing in a beer.

O: Above average brew, it doesn't have any marks against it but nothing stands out a whole lot either. I would drink it again especially at $3.79 for a 22oz bottle. The minerally taste without that oily thickness would make it scream "SELTZER WATER"

Can from the Brew Shop in Bend. Nice thick and chewy bohemian pilsner, lots of suspended articles in this deep golden brew. Initial abundant airy head fades, but lasts to the bottom. Aroma and taste of malt first most, hay, grass, light hops. Slight hops tanginess on the finish.

22oz bomber, from a (I think) a Trader Joe's in suburban Portland, OR.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, very pale yellow colour, with two fingers of thin foamy off-white head, which leaves but a few specks of forlorn lace around the glass as it quickly recedes. It smells of sweet cracker malt, a bit of stewed, in a good way, vegetables, and grassy, weedy hops. The taste is sweet grainy, bready malt, and mild grassy hops. The carbonation is on the soft side, the body medium weight, and relatively smooth. It finishes clean and mostly malty, of the restrained bready sort, the hops going off to whatever it is they do when not in your face from a nice pilsener pour.

A decent Stateside version of a Ceske Pivo, but lacking significantly in the expected crisp bite. A little too focused on the sweeter side - 'tis hardly the American way, non? At any rate, something appropriate to 'drink to your health'.

Poured from a 22oz bomber, into a wine glass (fundraiser dinner, no choice on glassware!)

Pours a slightly-hazy straw color. Pretty nice head, retention not great, but it hung around through the end of the glass. As other reviewers have noted - the smell is a bit of a enigma. The obvious spicy pilsener quality to the hop profile, but there's an undertone that's somewhat earthy, almost grassy hint to it. Not bad, just unique.

Taste is somewhat reserved for the style. I'd like a bit more assertiveness on the hops. The earthy characteristic could work well, but it needs more than the malt profile to back it up. The grainy-ness needs that hop punch to clean-up the back end.

Overall - my favorite SOB to date. I'd love to see our local boys put it all together. Hopefully a step in the right direction.

22 oz bottle from Capital market, Salem. Appearace? The usual pale golden lager..the head is nice and thick/frothy though. Aroma is quite musty in a strange semi-barnyard cheese way..actually sharp doughy if that makes sense. Tste is mainlly semi-sweet honey and cream..very little hops at all.Just a touch in the end..very sweet malt driven. The palate was quite enjoyable, not too thin and not over carbonated. Overall a pleasing beer, but not amoung the representation of the style

Poured into Hard Rock pilsener class, 8.6.12.

Crystal clear deep gold body, bevy of fast rising small bubbles, one finger pure white head, medium dissipation with no lacing. Sweetish aroma from the nose, floral hops. Taste is a bit sweet up front leading to floral hops which were subsumed a bit by the sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium, above average effervescence and a fairly dry finish. Not bad, but not on the level of Moonlight Reality Czech, IMHO the best American interpretation of the style.

Poured from tap. Pours a nice clear gold color that is exactly how one wants a pilsner to look.

Very fresh and aromatic pilsner with aromas of crackers, grains, and some fresh baked biscuits. More high-toned, but on the spot for what I want.

Excellent light and crisp feel. Tasty with flavors of crackers, grains and some noble hops.

A real delicious pilsner. Perfect lower abv and insanely drinkable.

Served from a tallboy can into a pilsner glass

A- Poured a clear light golden color with massive fluffy white head that left tons of webbed lacing.

S- Big bready malt, some floral sweetness, lemon, and spicy notes with mild bitterness on the finish.

T- Big pilsner malt and bready notes, pretty big grapelike and lemon fruity notes, some spicy notes, and light grassy hop notes.

M- High carbonation, smooth, lighter to medium body, and mostly dry.

O- A very enjoyable and balances pilsner. It leans a little on the sweeter side than hoppy side with lots of nice pilsner malt flavor.

No date on the bottle, so no idea how fresh this is.

Pours a very light, thin, clear, slightly golden yellow. Solid, fluffy pure white head, with nice retention and decent lacing. Lots of carbonation visible as streams of bubbles.

Smell is mostly pilsner malts and grassy hops, clean and crisp. Has a slightly pungent vegetable smell in the background, like a pile of wet cut hay.

Taste is of light grainy malts with that soft bitterness of low-acid hops, not biting but smooth and liquidy twang. Lots of rounded grain and grassy flavors. Finish is light and mildly sweet, kinda watery.

Mouthfeel quite light and fresh, with good medium-high carbonation. Finishes quickly, rather dry.

A very nice pilsner. The flavors are mild, as expected, but it's tasty, very refreshing, and with a nice balance of malts and vegetal hops. Has a variety of grassy flavors, sorta like chewing your way through an overgrown field (but in a good way). Stays tasty even as it warms up to room temp.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a Pilsner glass.

Appearance: nice golden-yellow hue with a bit of haze and plenty of effervescence. Head is a thin finger of frothy white foam. Not too bad.

Smell: rich, sweet malt with a subtle but distinct noble hop aroma. Clean, light and without error -- just what I want in a Pilsner.

Taste: clean malt with a crisp, fresh and biting noble hop flavor and bitterness. The cleanliness on this is superb; it's a very tasty beer.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a very good level of carbonation and nice creaminess. I like it.

Overall: this is a great Pilsner. It's hard to gush about such a subtle style of beer, but this is a clean, crisp and error-free brew.

very nice, eastern-european style lager. to me eastern euro lager means lager with some flavor and this has it. In fact its a bit different from other east europe lagers Ive had. It has a little sour or dirty flavor and smell. Dirty not like a dirt smell but more like a vinegar smell, in a good way. Almost hinting on a belgian flair of flavor. Over all, very good, drinkable, light, crisp, flavorful beer.

Also beautiful color and haziness. About as nice as it gets with a lager beer
