Attractive amber color like it was brewed with Crystal malt. Nice head and long-lasting fine-grained foam. Well carbonated in the mouth. A distinctive spicy hop aroma.

This has a funny sweet toast flavor. Lots of sugar along with that odd bitter and skunky hop note that seems to be the profile for every Maibock I've tried. After some sipping, though, it tastes better with the rich malty base and the spicy, peppery hops coming through nicely. Perfumey and full of stray aromatics. Warm caramel. It's not one to quaff, but it is a rewarding liquid pleasure for sipping.

One of the best Maibock's I've had. I don't believe this can be a Weizenbock, as it was originally categorized, without wheat. From the 22 oz bottle purchased somewhere on the coast.

It might be Holy Water, but the 22oz bottle is the Devils work. Poured into 10oz goblet. Poured a lightly hazy honey gold color with no head, thus no retention or lacing. The beer was very still, just a few tiny bubbles on the bottom and sides of the glass.

The aroma had just some lightly sweet malts, other wise it was neutral and bland. The taste profile was the same, bland and benign. There was just a slight alcohol taste on the finish though.

The body was smooth and even, and featured some light carbonation. Drinkability was OK, but with the beer being so featureless, the calories and money are better spent elsewhere. Overall, not a truly bad beer, just meh.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass.

Appearance: medium orange hue with a light effervescence and a clear body. Head poured one finger of pillowy ivory foam which dissipated somewhat quickly.

Smell: wheaty, malty aroma with some pungent over-ripe fruitiness in the mix. Alcohol is definitely also present. Right in the strong bock wheelhouse.

Taste: rich malt with a similar fruitiness. It's not overpowering, but it is definitely a major part of the mix. The alcohol is a bit prominent to me, even for a 7%+ beer. Decent, but it doesn't blow me away.

Mouthfeel: rich body with a good carbonation and concomitant creaminess. This is my favorite part of this beer.

Overall: a decent, middle-of-the-road weizenbock. I wouldn't seek it out, but I wouldn't turn one down either.

22 oz bottle from Trader Joes,Salem. $4.49 Clear copper coloured beer with a large and thick frothy off white head. Fine malty, bready, slightly toasty aromas. Taste is very much like the aroma..bready,honey sweetness and slightly toasty cereal. Slight alcohol in the after taste. Palate ok maybe a bit sticky in the end. OK beer.

Appearance: (3.0)

- Pours a very clear amber. Like a shiny new copper penny-like color. The quick finger of off-white head settled very fast to just some thing spotting resting to one side and a very small ring. Bubbling like the last lager I drank.

Smell: (3.5)

- A very subdued aroma. Grains, bready yeast, light brown sugar and cinnamon. Light esters and aromatic alcohol aromas without the medicine. Leaves the palate waiting, and wondering if there is more.

Taste: (4.0)

- A musky and natural bock flavor. Leather, wood, and bready wheat flour. This contains the malts needed to make a Maibock. Light caramel, and more bread. Light zesty and earthy hop is barely along for the ride, perhaps mainly early boil. This is solid, and seemingly true-to-style.

Mouth Feel: (4.0)

- This is a medium bodied brew with a somewhat thick cream-like feel. It is forcing it to be heavy, but doesn't hit it like a thick stout. Lots of grain was used obviously, and thus a cloying and chewy feel is present. Well carbonated as a lager, and slightly dry in the finish.

Overall: (4.0)

- A very unique beer. Like an import. I like the fact that this is so close to what an import would be expected to be like. It's filling, used a lot of more rare grains, and is certainly more true-to-style than other local maibocks (which are rare as can be anyway). I'm not a huge fan of the style, or of German biers for that matter, but this is something to behold.

A: pours a clear orange color with a slight bubbly head and not much lacing
S: bready and malty scents also quite estery.
T: sweet malts up front, sweet bread flavor. Slight banana flavor as well.
M: medium bodied beer. Carbonation is a bit low.
O: I am a sucker for maibocks and this is a very good one I would highly reccomended.

22 oz bottled poured into 16 ox goblet,

Nice 3/4 head with perfectly formed bubbles.
Initial taste of caramel and malt followed by hop flavor with little bitterness.
Second and subsequent tastes revealed full bodied beer with definite malt-side qualities.

When I finished the 22 ox bottle, I made a note that I really should have purchased two. I will correct that mistake today when I go back to the bottle shop. This is a really good and very drinkable beer.

Enjoyed this beer during the Big O Festival at Brewforia Beer Market. Very smooth and I was surprised by how much I liked it. A nice taste with no hop bite and went well with our meal. My Wife and I enjoyed this beer so much we enjoyed 2 growlers of it over 4 days...
