Great place to throw some darts and hang out with a small group of friends, the food has been disappointing the past few times but the drinks are good and the feel is great.

If visiting Chatanooga, this is a must stop. Two levels, very unique spot. Not the cleanest place in the world. SMOKING is the only drawback.

We had lunch here while visiting Chattanooga, TN. The atmosphere is pizza parlor, a little grubby. We sat in the outdoor patio which was nice. While the place was grubby the beer and food was very good. Service was fast and friendly and they checked our IDs which is a compliment at our age. I didn't really understand this cause it said only people over 21 were allowed but there was a child at the next table? Seemed a contradiction. Beer choice was excellent. My husband had a Terrapin Hopzilla which he really enjoyed. I had the fish and chips and it was very good and generous in quantity. My husband had the Bungalow Pie which he enjoyed. Value was very good. We would go back.

Place looks like a victorian british/irish pub on the inside. Beautiful bar. Not the biggest selection of beer, but I enjoyed a Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Brown Ale. A great beer. They have a great patio area. I nice laid back atmosphere. They make great meatloaf.

This is by far my favorite bar in Chattanooga. The service has always been spot on and they've done a masterful job of capturing the vibe, food, and look of a pub in the British Isles. Their mystery beer night on Thursdays is my favorite week night event in Chattanooga. I've been blindly handed some fine ales. You can't beat it for $2.75.
The tap list isn't too bad, and there are a decent number of high-grav's. Beer is becoming a bigger thing in Chattanooga as more American craft brews are becoming available and popular. Hair of the Dog is a significant part of that movement.

This place was recommended by a dude working at the coffee shop nearby, and it turned out to be a good one. In town for work, Chattanooga turned out to be a cool town with good beer, and the free electric shuttle was an added bonus. The place is a narrow space with the curving bar to your left when you walk in. People were friendly in here just as everyone in the great state of Tennessee seems to be. The bartender was knowledgeable on the beers and let us try samples. The tap selection was excellent and I was particularly happy to have some Sweetwater selections. A lot of people were smoking cigarettes, something you forget about living in a state where smoking in establishments is banned, but it didnt bother me. I could sit in here all day, definitely a must stop if youre in town.

I grew up in Chattanooga, and Hair of the Dog wasn't around when I lived there. However, no trip home would be complete without a visit to Chattanooga's only real Irish pub (since the closing of Durty Nelly's across the river).
First, this place is small. I mean tiny. It used to be an old coffee shop, and it was small even for a coffee shop. So needless to say, this place gets really, really crowded, especially after 10-11 PM. When you first walk in, you'll notice a gathering of tables on the right and the bar right in front of you, with a staircase to the left. Upstairs are two small pool tables that barely fit, given the narrowness of the building and two dart boards. There is also an old-school dumbwaiter system that the bartenders use to transfer drinks from the bar downstairs to the waitstaff upstairs. Never seen anything like it, and it's very cool. There is also a huge two-story deck out back that opens up during nice weather that helps with crowd control.
Beer-wise, this place has around 11-12 on tap if memory serves me right. A few domestics and quite a few imports from Ireland and England, obviously. Overall a good list; only two or three beers on the list that I don't care for. The food here is exceptional for bar food as well. Try the fries. Trust me.
The service is just ok. Granted, the only time I'm there is during peak hours, and I understand that it can take a while to get service when bars are crowded. Don't expect instant service during peak times, like most places. Staff is very friendly though.
Overall, if you live in Chattanooga, or you're just stopping in, this is definately a great bar to check out. It's downtown in the main tourist/bar district too, so it isn't too far out of the way if you're in the area on business or just to see the sights.
