In a town where Sierra Nevada is considered "craft," this favorite spot is literally a beer oasis. In fact, if you take into consideration the surrounding area, the beer selection here would be a 6. Judging against similar places in larger cities, however, the breadth of the beer selection is average. What works in Molasses Grill's favor, however, is the variety of the selection. There is something for every palate. 40 or so bottles, and 3 constantly rotating taps that consist predominantly of local and seasonal crafts.

The atmosphere is somewhat upscale at first glance, but the laid back demeanor of the owners (who are almost always on hand) and the staff make it feel like an old school neighborhood haunt. You can just as easily order a pint and a dozen oysters or a four course anniversary dinner. All seafood, meats, and produce are sourced locally and/or organically when possible.

All told, Molasses Grill is a cosmopolitan experience in a rural setting. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
