This place provides something special the essence of the beer culture. Not pretentious at all, everyone is welcome, and edgy at the same time. The servers were wonderful, the beer exquisite, they don't even seem to have a way to add up the bill electronically and the whole thing seems to go on the honour system. I ordered 4 beers and only 1 of them is even listed on the BA web site for rating.

A.

Fantastic selection and vibe. As described, 20 taps of a phenomenal rotation of a wide interest of styles, of course with a deep rotation of Northwest craft beers, but also with little known entries from far distant sources of great interest. Great music (every night). Feature nights with specific breweries. Small with a cramped layout (no choice) - but the people who go don't care - they aren't there for ferns and mirrors and chrome if you know what I mean. The place has a great feel - just great beer and music from a great plan attracting people who create a great atmosphere. And the thing that got me for life - with a band from Dublin playing to a packed house, James (proprietor/bartender) honored the $4 draft Tuesday night special - on St. Patrick's Day.

It's very much a small college bar. It can be hard to find, and can be a little crowded on a busy night. However, the Green Frog has an incredible beer selection (no taps filled with any BMS), and a very relaxed atmosphere. They always have good, laid back music playing. They also have a half priced pint night and a half-priced growler night. The bartenders are cool knowledgeable people. They are extremely with most things their patrons do, allowing people to bring outside food, and even their pets. Overall, as long as you aren't you don't mind some more college themed music and a lot of people, then you will have a blast.

A narrow bar as part of a strip mall located on the way out of Bellingham towards Fairhaven. Not a whole lot of seating available and a small stage takes up one corner.

The bar has an industrial blues bar feel. Some of the interior is made up of tractor seats as bar stools, brushed stainless steel counter tops, old benches and simple wooden tables. Peanut shells are swept into large piles beneath the tables and chairs. Music posters on the wall and multiple guitars and banjos hang on the back wall adding to the musical atmosphere. It looks like a good place to listen to some local music.

Service is very friendly, enthusiatic, and knowledgeable about their beer. They have a great selection of beers on tap and more Oskar Blues cans and some bottles to choose from.

Don't let the "cafe" in the name fool you. This is a good 'ol beer and music bar. I can't wait to go have a pint after softball games!

This place is on State Street near downtown Bellingham. Cool little bar with a great selection of craft brews. Peanut shells on the ground, Stringed instruments on the wall and rasputin in two different places! You'll have to go there to see what that means. They rotate there taps on a pretty regular basis so you never know what to expect, but they keep a few staples that are always available. These include Old Rasputin Nitro, Immortal IPA and a few others i cant recall. They also have a good bottle and can selection and will fill/sell growlers at reasonable prices. On most or maybe all nights they have live music and food can be ordered from next door. Definitely my favorite bar in Bellingham and highly recommended. Thanks to beertunes for introducing me to this place!

This place is cool if you are a beer and/or music lover. It's a small, quaint joint with great atmosphere. When you walk in the first thing you'll notice is either the wall of guitar or the massive piles of peanut shells.

The beer selection is awesome "23 Delightful Beers = No Crap On Tap". Not the biggest selection I've seen, but just right (sometimes having too much is a bad thing). The beers taste exceptionally fresh and come from both local craft breweries and a few great out of state brewers.

I give extra points to the obvious attention to detail the bar tender has when serving beer. My only complaint is they do not have cooler/better glassware.

No food but you can buy peanuts for $2 that are very good.

Great live music.

This a neat little bar that has 20 taps. They feature mostly Northwest beers but sometimes feature brews from the rest of the country and a limited amount of imports.

There usually are no bottled beers available, but sometimes a few bottles of limited release stuff show up.

This a comfortable locals bar, popular with teachers and students, blue and white collar workers, some visiting tourists.

There is live music most nights, sometimes free, sometimes with a cover charge and the acts are varied.

The only food available is peanuts, but you can bring in outside food.

In general this a fun place to hang out and relax with a few pints and not have to be bombarded with TV sports. If you visit Bellingham the Green Frog is a must visit, along with Boundary Bay.

This was the final stop of the day during my visit of Bellingham and would have been my favorite beerbar in the town even if it wasn't the place beertunes (Terry) worked. This place is a complete hole in the wall dive, and frankly it's hard for me to imagine this place ever holding more then 50 patrons (though Terry assured me they somehow fit crowds in here considerably larger then this). I was told this place has live music every night, which once again is hard to imagine given the size of this place.

As you walk in, you see a fairly long bar running along the left side to the back of the bar. There are also some benches to perch on while you relax with a beer, listening to the local and regional music.

Considering how unpretentious this place is, I suspect most folks probably do a double take when they see the beer list. The Green Frog boasts 20 or more tap lines and the selection is outstanding. They have a good line-up of local and regional beers, but also some interesting Belgian offerings and, much to my surprise, even a keg of Ayinger Oktoberfest. They also have a few odd bottles and cans in the cold box, with the "hilight" consisting of PBR and Ranier tall boys that sell for $3 a piece in the bar. Terry told me that customers can also take out beer here, and that PBR/Ranier is $6 a six pack to go.

Service this day was outstanding of course, with Terry opening up the bar so we could sample some of the wares before opening bell later in the afternoon. I should mention that the bar also has guitars, banjos and even a mandolin on the wall here, and customers are allowed to help themselves if they feel the need to entertain themeslves in a musical way while hanging in the bar.

As I learned to my instruction this day, there are many great places to grab a beer while in Bellingham, a surprising number given the size of the town. However, given the cozy confines of the Green Frog, the great beer selection, and the gentle pricing (pints were generally in the $4 and $5 range), this is where I'd come to get my drink on if I lived anywhere near here. I'll definitely be back.

Oh. Almost forgot. I don't believe there's a kitchen here, but the GF is located right next door to a New York pizza cafe/restaurant, and patrons are allowed to bring in food from next door if they have a mind. Something to keep in mind if one needs a bite to take the edge off of that 3rd or 4th pint of Stone epic. Cheers!

A small room in a strip mall that used to be a bowling alley. Very narrow room with a stage directly to your right as you enter. Bench seating along both walls as you walk back towards the bar. Only about 6-8 seats at the bar. A total of 23 taps but due to a lack of storage space sometimes a handful of taps are empty. A few (3-5) beers are on tap all the time (including Old Rasputin on nitro, YUM), the rest rotate. Mostly West Coast beers with occasional Midwest or Rocky Mountain beers showing up. Usually a wide selection of styles, but sometimes too many NW hop bombs. They fill growlers to go. There is live music 365 days a year. There are guitars on the wall for customer use and customer jam outs are common. The music is primarily singer-songwriter stuff but all types of bands play here. Artists are local, regional and national touring acts. No food available except for peanuts. You can bring a something to eat with you or have a pizza delivered. A very fun and relaxed place.
