The selection of beer on tap is exceptional for the area. They have twenty beers on tap including my favorite, Hennepin from Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, New York. Other impressive selections (for this area) include Chimay, Anchor Steam, Paulener, Siera Nevada Porter, Souther Tier IPA, and Victory from PA.

The atmosphere in the bar reminds me of a classy mens club, with dark wood. The food is good, my favorite is the baby back ribs.

The Gaffer is loccated on historic Market Street in downtown Corning only about a half a block from Corning Incorporated's Worldwide Headquarters, in the hear of the "crystal city".

Girlfriend and I stopped in here for a drink. I really enjoyed the atmosphere; it was nice without seeming stuffy, classy but you don't feel out of place in jeans. The perfect mix in my opinion. I had a Stone Master of Disguise, which was $9, but eh. They had Goldfish as a bar snack, which I particularly enjoyed.

Stayed in Corning the night of 6/12/10 during the race weekend at nearby Watkins Glen ... The selection of draught beers was outstanding -- we tried the IPA from the nearby Horseheads (NY) brewery; it was creamy, just-right hoppy and delicious. As I had never had Chimay (red) on tap, I got that next, and so did one of my friends, who had never had it at all. It was also very good, and my colleague enjoyed it as well.

The food was well-prepared: my brisket/ribs combo plate was flavorful (tho' perhaps next time I'll ask for it with a little less sauce on the brisket); My friends thoroughly enjoyed their jambalaya and pork dishes respectively, and we considered our visit to the Gaffer Grille a successful one.

The staff was attentive and friendly, tho' never intrusive, and the young lady who waited on us was knowledgeable about the beers. Speaking of which, in addition to Arrogant Bastard on tap, they had just added Stone Pale Ale and Levitation Ale. If we weren't getting up early the next morning to go back to the track I can see us staying there and working our way through a few more items on the beer menu.
