One of my "go to beers". Hands down, a damm good beer. Been looking forward to this review for a while.

View, a nice cloudy light gold, nice 3 fingers of foam. Left some patchy lacing behind.

The smell is quite light, yeast, malt, some sweet corn.

This was the first true Pilsner style beer I've sampled. Out of the many, it got me hooked on a style thats now my second choice next to a hearty lager. Its got the malt heavy upfront, and middle, hops with a slighty dry finish. This beer has a hard to describe fruity/herbal note in the background that most of the better pilsners have had that I have tried. Potosi says they use the traditional Saaz hops, this must be that distinct flavor. The hops, and malt are perfectly combined in this brew. As it warms both hop, and malt intensifies. Man, just a good beer.

I like the old style Potosi label on the bottle. It is always nice to see the old Potosi signs that still hang on many of the buildings in Grant Co ( Wisconsin ) from days long past.

Potosi, WI is not a terribly large settlement, boasting a population of 688 people. By no means is this pilsener-style beer from its namesake brewery a backwater brew, however.

I find this bottle of beer in a six-pack mixer brought back by my parents from a recent trip to Chicagoland. I believe this one may have come from the ubiquitous Binny's chain.

Pours a pale straw colour, with a faint head that rapidly vanishes in favour of slight lacing at the edges. The first thing it reminds me of is the haylike colour of PBR, but with slightly more opacity. Not the highest standard, but looks are deceiving in this case.

The beer smells very faintly of grain, malt and summer hay. I have to nearly stick my nose in it to get a whiff, but when present, it's a pleasing, fresh aroma.

The taste and feel are surprising; immediately crisp and effervescent, then giving way to sweet malt and almost citrus-like tones. This pilsener hangs on the tongue, but just long enough to let the crispness recede. Excellent for a summer beer. I could see a Blue Moon-style spiced variant of this beer capitalizing on those characteristics being very good.

Overall a good beer that is a pilsener with a bit more oomph. Of the beers I've had in the style, this seems a bit of a departure from tradition, but its small town Wisconsin roots give a bit of a body to a style which, for me, has always been a bit on the lighter side.

A- Light, hay yellow color. good amount of carbination.

S-First smell malt and corn, very small amout hops, mostly a cut grass smell.

T- As i expected typical Wisconsin style Pils/lager. Very crisp, tasty great beer in the summer. Malty, no hop character which is shocking for a pils. I really tried to pin the hop taste but nontheless nothing.

M- Crispy and light carbination hits the mouth without the sting, but not watery it has a body.

O- Typical Wisconsin Pils minus the lacking hop character, I'd recommend this for a person who doesn't enjoy hops but enjoys lighter beers. i'll take this versus MGD anyday, but I wouldn't have it around all the time. It's an old brewery and a great place.
