Poured cold form a bottle.
This beer was a very dark brown colour with a tan head that disappeared quickly. There was not much of a smell... slightly sweet and malty, but barely noticeable. The taste was sweet and matly with a very faint roasted finish; not much to it.
Would I buy it again? No.

Reviewed from notes.
A. When the glass is held up to the light, it does indeed show as a translucently clear dark chestnut brown color. Has a single finger of foamy head that doesn't leave much lacing at all.
S. Smells of a small portion of roasted malts mixed with a larger portion of unroasted dark malts. That is really not typical for a stout aroma at all! But on the other hand, it isn't a 'bad' nose per se... just not to style at all. Another BA has hit the nail on the head with their review: This is the nose of a porter, not a stout. Some minor twinges of smoke and coffee aroma appear as well when the glass is allowed to warm up for a bit. Points removed because I have to rate according to advertised style on the bottle. :(
T. Some roasted malt, some chocolate, but there is also a large 'oakey' wooden astringency to the mid palate that one would expect to belong to a barrel aged beer with a smoother, richer malt pairing than this. On the positive side, the finish is properly bitter and the alcohol level is well hidden.
M. Lightly carbonated, medium body texture, not quite as creamy nor smooth as other oatmeal stouts I've had before, sadly.
A lot of minor flaws really add up in this beer. This is the first time that I've been let down by Potosi. I know that they can do so much better than this, their other beers are so much better than this. Please guys... workshop this beer's formulation a bit and try again.
