Poured from a chilled bottle into a standard pint glass.

A=Dark brownish red, with a 1/2" foam head that lasted a half minute or so.

S=Faint...malty with slight cocoa presence.

T-Smooth...no harshness to speak of. A moderate malt presence with a slight sweetness.

M=Heftier than most...could have been a tad thicker.

D=Very enjoyable...not too bitter, nor too sweet...very little carbonation...nice rich flavor. I cannot detect the alcohol at all. To date, my favorite Stout and my favorite Potosi product (I've only had this Potosi offering, however).

Poured a deep dark black with a nice dark tan.

Had a nice cereal grain smell with some nice chocolate and burnt grains.

Has a nice black smoked malt flavor with subtle hints chocolate and coffee with a nice bit of anise in the finish. Finishes slightly sweet along with some nice fresh hops for a decent bit of balance.

Has a nice thick and chewy mouthfeel.

Very solid Oatmeal Stout, I think Potosi's best beer to date.

Pours black with a creamy tan head that leaves slight lacing.

Aroma is bitter, charred dark grain balanced by dark fruit sweetness.

Taste is more of the dark fruit sweetness from the nose up front - plum and date stand out. Then dark chocolate, and charred dark grain bitterness takes over. Finishes with anise and lingering alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel is medium-full. Very smooth and silky.

A tasty and flavorful stout. Sweet and then bitter and smokey. Nicely done.

A - Dark mahogany with a small, foamy, creamy, light cafe colored head. Doesn't stick around too long leaving a thin circle of lace.

S - Decent aroma but not what I expected from an oatmeal stout. Chocolate covered dark fruit aroma. Raisin, prune, and fig. Some burnt malt as well. Smells much more like an Imperial Stout than an Oatmeal Stout. As it warms a bit more chocolate and cocoa comes out.

T - Like the nose suggested, this is more like an imperial stout than a oatmeal stout. Dark fruit and chocolate dominate the taste. Starts with dark fruit. Hints of smoke and charred wood come out mid-sip to the finish. Chocolate and cocoa show up throughout. Some bitter, roasted malt as well. Has a faint oatmeal aspect but nothing that would suggest it is an oatmeal stout.

M - Medium to thin body (closer to medium) with decent carbonation. Quite smooth and creamy. Not quite as full or chewy as I would like though.

D - Easy to drink and there is no way I would suspect it is 8% ABV. Not too sweet, bitter, tart, or anything... just well balanced.

Notes: Interesting and nothing what I was expecting. More of an imperial stout than an oatmeal stout. Dark fruit and chocolate make up most of the flavor along with some roasted malt. I liked it but did not love it. For the price and the ABV it is quite nice.

The color reminds me a bit of a class of cola, looks black at first, but is actually more a dark brown with a reddish tinge on the edges. Has a small tan head that quickly turns into some lacing.

Starts out sweet, like a toffee or caramel. There's also a bit of coffee and chocolate.

Tastes a lot like it smells, bit of sweetness up front like caramel. There's chocolate and coffee as well, and maybe some cherry. Kind of reminds me of the flavor of cherry and chocolate blended together.

Goes down fairly smooth, but a bit thin for the style.

Not a bad beer, goes down easy, and the alcohol is well hidden. The one thing I would like is more complexity, it could use more depth of flavor. Still, it is an easy beer to drink, and has enough flavor to make me glad I gave it a try.

A- Semi-aggressive pour leaves a khaki one-inch tall head, fizzy at first but then settles in denser. Color is see-through dark brown, odd. Head retention is above average and some lacing is left on all side of the glass.

S- Aromas of sweet dark chocolate and oatmeal. Enjoyable.

T- Chocolates, acidic coffee notes. Some hop presence but hardly noticeable. Oakiness? Very hard to believe this is 8%abv.

M- Medium to medium-thick mouthfeel. Lower end of carbonation.

D/O- Overall this is easy drinking, albeit higher end on the alcohol content. No wow factor, just solid in every field.

A - Deep dark ruby brown pour with a thin, somewhat lively khaki head. Some oily lacing left over after the head quickly recedes

S - Chocolate nibs and grains, smells rich and milk chocolatey sweet. Slight hint of alcohol in the back end.

T - Subtle hints of chocolate and lightly roasted malt. Finishes quite sweet for how subdued the chocolate notes are. Enough bitter roastiness in the finish to not make it unbearably sweet.

M - Medium bodied, if a bit thin. Well carbonated and lively on the tongue.

D - An average Oatmeal Stout. Although well balanced, its subtle notes of chocolate and dark sugars just leave me wanting more bold flavor and a thicker body. I dont see myself buying more, but I certainly wouldnt turn another down.
