From 8/11/11 tasting notes
Enjoying this on tap at the State Fair...
A) A nice looking, slightly cloudy, yellow brew. There was a nice inch of white bubbly head that had decent retention. There was no lacing.
S) Lemon and pure sugar sweetness. There is beer in here too. The smell is very natural, which is quite the opposite of the other beer/lemonade products on the market.
T) As indicated above, a well done combination of beer, sugar sweetness, and lemon juice.
M) Light bodied with the right amount of carbonation. The feel is very natural and quite refreshing.
O) I can't help but think I have been a bit generous with some earlier grades on summertime beer lemonade combos. IMO, Steamboat Shandy is superior to those products. If I can't get to the GastHaus for a radler, this would be a fairly acceptable alternative.

The slight scent that wafted up when I popped the top was not one to instill confidence as it was definitely not lemon to me. This was confirmed upon pouring into the glass... very bilious though there was at least a hint of lemon if I thought hard and fast. A very pale lemon honey transparency lay beneath a almost snow white head of foam, the foam being little more than a finger to start and quickly being reabsorbed. There is definitely lemon in the taste, almost like a sweet lemon tea with alcohol. The effervescence is noticeable but not unpleasant. The sweetness borders on cloying, and it does cross over to the other side of that near the back of the tongue. The feel is slightly viscous and round. This isn't as bad as I'd feared and it goes well with the sushi I have, but the smell and the sweetness will most likely mean that I'll not travel this way again.

S: Lemon, wheat, malt.
T: Tastes nearly like lemonade with a bit of wheat.
F: Very refreshing and non dry, mild carbonation.
O: A great shandy, little bit more complex than Leinenkugels.

Bought a 12oz can at a festival over the weekend - turns out this was the right call as it was hot as heck and the shandy really hit the spot. light color, almost no head. Smell and tastes like lemonade. I wouldn't drink a ton of this but will keep some in the refrigerator over the summer.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, fizzy white head of foam. It smelled of lemons, lemonade and lemon juice. Pretty typical lemon shandy. Refreshing, sweet and lemony.

Rating this for what it is, which is a refreshing alternative to all the other shandy's on the market right now. The flavor is pretty strong, definitely sweet. It's hardly a classy beer, but it's wonderfully drinkable. I have fond memories of drinking this on the cheap at Monica's in Milwaukee. Clearly you either love this one or hate it, but worth a try either way.

Pours a light gold with a disappearing head with no real lacing. Smell is lemony? Taste is lemon and bud light's love child. Mouthfeel is ehh. Overall not my favorite.

Pours a clear, straw color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of slight lemon, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of hop, and a hint of wheat. Fits the style of a Fruit / Vegetable Beer. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight lemon, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of hop, and a hint of wheat. Overall, weak appearance, decent aroma and body, but average at best.

12 oz. can:
Pours golden with a thin head that soon becomes a wide island. Minimal lacing sticks.
The smell is of lemon with a bready character.
The taste is of sweetened lemo. A cracker-like/bready malt character, and even a light touch of hops lets you know that this has a solid beer foundation. The lemon juice is obvious but doesn't overpower it too much.
Light-bodied and smooth.
A better-than-average example of a lemon shandy.
