My wife and I went to the Blue Mountain Lodge with our nephew who is a local student. Locally, the restaurant has a very good reputation, and we went on that alone. To my surprise, the craft beer list was extensive--for NW Iowa anyway. Possibly two dozen bottles of fine beers, including at least four I hadn't had before: a pleasant surprise. I ended up getting the Sprecher Russian Imperial Stout, a good that a bit light for the style but enjoyable to drink. The rest of the beers were a combination of Belgians and regional favorites. My nephew had the pulled pork sandwich, which he pronounced excellent, while we had the pizza special that was good but I would try something else next time I visit. Great place to eat for beery parents visiting their kids at the college.

Blue Mountain is an incredible dining experience in Northwest Iowa. The proprietors have traveled extensively around the globe and display the treasures and tastes they discovered in this multi-faceted restaurant. They have an outstanding kitchen, bar, and wait staff who have obviously been well trained in customer service. The food is awesome and of a wide variety. Their beer selection includes many craft domestic and imports...and now craft-brewed beer.

I would highly recommend a trip to Blue Mountain. I mistakenly posted a review in late June stating that this establishment was not craft brewing, but I owe a note of thanks to Brent for correcting me. I enjoyed a "Prairie Pale Ale" at Blue Mountain last night. Give them time, and I'm sure that this exciting restaurant will have a nice selection of fine craft brews on tap!
