Any review I write couldn't really top the one below, so let me just say that a recent trip proved that review correct in both quality and selection.
My wife and I stopped on our way back to Canada to pick out the beers we wanted to bring back, and we were there for about an hour, as I had anticipated. Great Maine beers selection (standard stuff plus specialties, such as Allagash Curieux, Grand Cru, and the always-searched-for Cadillac Mtn. Stout), as well as a very good selection of New England, Western U.S., Belgium, and England.
Big, clean store, with very friendly staff. The perfect place to stop on your way out of Bar Harbor, or if you're even anyway near the town of Ellsworth.

This is by far the best location for picking up exceptional craft beers. They have a comprehensive selection and their enthusiasm and knowledge of the products are top notch. They have a terrific selection of Maine based local brews, top named National brews and a wonderful array of Global beers to sample.
They are always expanding and finding new beers, wine and related gifts and items to add to their already very deep selections.
This is well worth a drive if you live in the Bangor area. You will not be disappointed, in fact you will most likely be in seventh heaven as you drive back home with a car full of goodies to sample.

Was visiting my In-Laws in Bucksport and asked where a good Beer Store was - My Father-In-Law told me about this place -
Me and him drove the 25 mins to get there and was very pleased with the store ,service and selection.I picked up some Maine Brewing Lunch Ipa and some Allagash Black as well as some Caddilac Mountain Stout.
They have a great Maine beer selection and a decent selection from all parts of the globe,Their beers are fairly priced and seemed to be fresh (Ipa's).
Everytime I visit Maine I'll be sure to stop in and pick up some great craft beers here.

Ellsworth is a little more than two hours drive for me, but well worth it. I have never seen a better selection. Maine beers, New England Beers, popular micro brews from all around the US and Europe. You name it they have it. And if they don't, they will call someone to see how long it will take to get it. The owner has always helped me and we have had good discussions about beer. The rest of the staff has a great knowledge too. I scored some Geary's, Maine Beer Co's Peeper, Ishmael, Stone Arrogant, Smuttynose's Old Brown Dog and Wheatwine, some german imported Heife. And lots more. Unbelievable.

Friday, the week winding down. Never been this far out before and I know what goes out, must find it's way back in again. Had some unrealistic ideas about getting off Southwest Harbor early and that just didn't happen so at 10 AM, I'm already running behind some. And you know, stopping at a beer store won't help the cause any, and I really don't need beer, per say, but I'm thinking I should hit this store in Ellsworth just the same, and grab a little something for tomorrow and tomorrow; maybe see what's local for picking. Benny recommended, enough said...
Big, bright, clean, new store, with a big wine side there and beer here (it helps if you look where I'm pointing). I will mull around suspiciously where the beer be. They've got probably the most extensive selection of Maine beers I've seen in this state (Allagash, Geary's, Bar Harbor, Sebago, Atlantic, Gritty McDuff's, Shipyard/Tremont, Belfast Bay, Kennebec River, Casco Bay/Carrabassett, Andrew's, Sea Dog, (Black) Bear, Peak Organic).
And a good craft selection; regionals, New England (Magic Hat, Long Trail, Smutty, Harpoon, Sam Adams, Sherwood Forest), regionals, beyond (Ommegang, Brooklyn, High Falls, Saranac, Weyerbacher, Victory, DogFishHead, Hook & Ladder), and beyond the region (Rogue, Flying Dog, Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Stone, Thirsty Dog, North Coast/ACME, Arcadia, Lakefront, Widmer, McSorleys, Leinenkugel). And they've got some things not so easy for this far corner of New England (Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout & Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine).
Imports Belgian and the like (Lovely Orval, Westmalle, Rochefort, Chimay, Koningshoeven, DuPont, Caracole, Duvel, Chouffe, St Bernardus, Delirium, Gouden Carolus, Hanssens Oude Kriek, St Feullien, Tripel Karmeliet, Kwak, DeuS, Gulden Draak, Kasteel, Bornem, Duchesse), and some German & UK goods, too.
A collection of organic, sorghum & Gluten free beers (Eel River, Lakefront, Redbridge, Green's, Peak Organic, Sam Smith, Green Valley), and all sorts of other things; from mini kegs to bombers, 750's, magnums and beyond (Samiclaus 3L, Val Dieu 6L, St Feullien 9L).
And everything else you'd reasonably need for a day of drinking (cheese, meat, chocolates, coffee, crackers, nuts, jerky, snacks, rubs, chutneys, mustards, dips, jams & jellys, pancake & muffin mixes, tobacco, cigars). Water, sodas, cider, malternatives, and a section for homebrew kits & supplies.
Grabbed a couple of nostalgic bombers, and sat talking with Ryan for a bit; it's his house, he does a good thing here, he gets it. Beer was fresh and kept well, and selection's on. When in this corner of the state of Maine, this is where you go get your beer.

Stopped in this place on the way home from Bar Harbor
Great place it had the best selection of Maine micro brews I have seen in the state. Good selection of Imports as well even some home brew kits still didn't see much in the way of glassware but their was some .
I wish I had stopped on my way in I would have loved to have a few of the brews I picked up with me while I was at the park to enjoy
The staff was friendly Knowledgeable and helpful
Will gladly return when I am in the area again this fall

UPDATE: selection increases. now they have glasses, too. as an example of their service, i went in one day this week and asked after a beer. they didn't know when it would be in but one phone call and 2 minutes later they had an answer (a correct answer at that).
New beer store in Ellsworth!
Well, the only Beer Store.
This is the most impressive selection of beer I've seen north of Portland. McKean and Charles has many if not all of the same beers but not the depth of selection. Many beers are refrigerated. There is an impressive selection of mini-kegs, including many German 5L's I've not seen elsewhere.
While there is a depth that is unusual for this are there are also some notable absences. There isn't much Smutty of DFH. Odd that.
I didn't really test the service but when I asked about them selling glassware (there was none) they pulled out a book and made note of the query. Kegs are available (both kinds always there [bud AND bud lite]) for order.
Also a large selection of wine and mixers/accessories but no booze in a nice new clean space.
If in the area (including Bar Harbor) this is the place to go.
