Consumed at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, Ca on March 14th, 2011.

Hazy, medium-golden beer. Head is virtually non-existent: a tiny ring of lacing is all this one had.

Soft, powdery yeast aroma mingles with honeysuckle note.

Flavor follows nose: slightly sweet with honey, powdery yeast and floral notes. Low bitterness, though it can be tasted at the finish.

Medium bodied but unfortunately, not dry.

Run-of-the-mill overall but properly executed.

Picked this 750 up at Holiday Wine Cellar on a recent trip to San Diego. After a slight struggle with the cork, I poured some into my Duvel tulip. Bright golden color, with an inch of fluffy white foam. Aromas of juicy pear and tart apple. On the palate, this one seemed kind of thin, like some of the body was missing. Lightly sweet, a little spice; easily drinkable, but almost instantly forgettable.

My prize for winning a bet with a co-worker.

App- Was a whole lot darker than I thought it would be. It was more of a brown with a bit of gold to it. Fairly dense in the glass with some good cling. Just a unique color for the style.

Smell- This was a pretty nice strong ale. Fairly boozy with a bit of citrus, cream, candy, grass and hay. A little strong but got the point across.

Taste- It was good but something just didnt sit right. It had a lot competeing in the glass and was flavorul. You got more orange fruits with orange, apricot and peach flavors melded with a bit of that aroma from the hay and grass. A little bitter and hoppy to balance it all out.

Mouth- A fairly medium body with a low-medium carbonation. A lot of peach, apricot and bitter on the finish. Fairly smooth and creamy as well.

Drink- It was a nice beer to sit with. I might have not needed to open this one last night but was good none the less.

On tap at Bootlegger’s Brewery in Fullerton, CA.

Pours a clear honey orange with a tan head that fades to nothing. No lacing on this one. Smell is of grain, malt, spice, and yeast. Taste is much the same with a mild medicinal bitterness after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but I like the way it smells over the way it tastes.

Poured a hazy golden yellow in color with a fat finger of head and left a good amount of bubbly lacing sticking to the glass. The nose had quite a bit of spice with the belgian yeast aromas slight pepper notes and grainy character. The taste was pretty much the same consisting of the sweet belgian yeast flavor pepper and pear ester accents and lots of spice like the nose presented. The brew was light to medium in body with a fair amount of carbonation which had a yeasty, spice, peppery, and grainy finish. It actually drank really good cause it was pretty thin but enjoyed it more on tap than in bottle.

Poured from a growler I picked up from the brewery/tasting room yesterday to a Duvel chalice.
Fairly mirky amber/caramel color with a 2cm bubbly white head. Low retention and no lacing.

Belgian candy sugar, banana and caramel malt on the nose.

Light flavor. Not alot of depth. Slight sweetness up front similar to the banana flavors in a Hef. Also orange peel and maybe bitter mango. Transitions quickly to a slight sour finish. Flavor is pleasant and fairly balanced.

Light bodied and crisp mouth feel with good carbonation.

Overall it's good but nothing special. Could be a beer for someone trying to transition into liking sours. The right time to drink this beer is now in this hot CA summer.

750 mL bottle,

A: Pours a murky burnt orange with a firm long-lasting white head, puffy clingy lace.

S: Pear esters, yeasty, white pepper.

T: Lots of pear, yellow apple and peppery spice with some earthy hops. Somewhat bitter on the back end. Nice flavour, but not a huge complexity.

M: Medium-bodied, frothy, light carbonation character.

D: A solid BSPA. Taste is really in between the 3.5 and 4, this is a nice little beer, one of the cheaper 750s around for sure.

Lucky enough to try this at Hollingshead.

Pours with a golden, elixir-ish appearance. Normally I'm not a big fan of brews that pour with little head and not much carbonation, but the rich golden hue was very attractive.

Smells sweet, yeasty, and Belgian candi-y. Taste is nice, with a rich sweet background, some dark/sweet fruits in there, and a nice complicated yeast profile. Let it simmer on the tongue. Don't know how drinkable it is over the long haul, but very impressed with the glass I had. Nice chewy/thick mouthfeel.

On-tap at Venice Ale House, Venice, CA

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that died down, leaving some patches of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Belgian yeast are present in the nose along with notes of pale malts and hints of sweetness.
T: The taste is very much like the smell and has flavors of pale malts with strong notes of yeast, hints of sweetness and bits of alcohol.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a good beer to sip. It isn't as dry as some of the other beers in the style and hides its alcohol rather well.
