Had at the brewery while out in Cali. Served from tap into a sampler mason jar style glass. Poured a hazy reddish brown with a minimal off-white head. There was no lacing evident throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, cherries, sour, and tart. The flavor was of sweet malt, caramel, sour, tart, funk, and slight cherries. It had a light feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this brew wasn't bad. It did have a better aroma than it did flavor. There was just nothing in the flavor to make it stand out and be remembered. I also noticed that the caramel aspect of this one broke up a lot of the sour notes which was quite unfortunate. Glad womencantsail and tOrinO took me to this brewery, thanks guys!

Reviewed from notes taken during 3rd Anniversary Party.
A: Pours a hazy orangish brown with a mini white head.
S: Nose is dominated by sour cherries. Faint oak quality present.
T: Mildly tart and sweet cherry with little notable bourbon barrel elements. Some oaky wood tannin.
M: Sweet and sour combined effect is pleasant.
O: Reminds me of Red Poppy in a subtle and good way. Glad the bourbon barrel aging didn't impart too much. A definite highlight.
Tried again at the 4th Anniversary Party. Overall it is aging into a sublime quaf.

On-tap at Bootlegger's
A: The pour is a dark amber color with a fair amount of haze and plenty of creamy tan head.
S: A rather complex and interesting nose. Lots of barrel notes of vanilla, chocolate, booze, and maple. The acidity is moderate and the cherry aroma is subtle.
T: Lots of sweet maple and vanilla flavor up front with some underlying chocolate and bourbon? character. The sourness doesn't really come into play until the finish where it is bracingly sour and heavy on the cherries.
M: The body is medium with a rather robust level of smooth creamy carbonation.
D: This was a different kind of sour beer. More subtle and sweet, perhaps a bit like an oud bruin, with a big sour kick on the finish. Quite good.
