On-tap at Bootlegger's

A: The pour is a turbid purple-red color with a thin pink-purple head.

S: Smells like blackberries, that's for sure. A decent hop aroma that has a lot of citrus qualities to it. There's a faint tartness to it, too. Interesting, if nothing else.

T: The flavor isn't quite as good as the nose is. Lots of blackberry flavor with a decent grapefruit and orange hop flavor and perhaps some pine. It's sort of astringent on the finish, though.

M: The body is medium with a low to moderate level of carbonation.

D: Another of the new trend of fruiting hoppy beers, but this one didn't work out as well as I might have hoped.

Sampled 1/27/11 at the brewery. This is one of the 10 pilot batches going on in the next few days.

Pours murky purple, some white head, no lacing or retention.

Aroma is intensely of black berry and orange. Surprisingly hoppy under the ridiculous amounts of blackberry.

Flavor is heavy on the blackberry and somewhat hoppy. Grapefruit and orange come to mind as does caramel, bread, and bitterness, but mostly just blackberries.

Body is surprisingly medium and has some drinkability.
