22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a golden with a fair amount of haze. A thin cap offers limited retention and lace.

The chamomile and honey are forward on the aroma, perhaps a bit of lemony noble hop in support and some white pepper/clove. Warming brings a more evident tarragon/anise aroma.

Sage emerges on the flavor and gives the beer an edgy dryness that doesn't quite become bitter. After the initial taste the sweet lemon/anise/honey flushes the tongue leaving only a light peppery finish.

Feel is moderate and the carbonation is rather light but I think this allows the spices to be more volatile. Not very coarse on the palate with only a light graininess. Overall quite drinkable as the spices are very present yet don't overwhelm in a Gruit sense and noted as a Blonde Ale on the label as well.

The second biggest gusher I've ever opened. Admittedly I opened it at room temperature but I hadn't been moved for a few days. The cap wasn't even off when I literally lost 3/4 of the bottle!

Pours (once I could!) a hazy dark yellow with a very thin white head that very quickly just fades away.

Nose is sage and Xmas spice, not the best nose for a spring/summer brew. Has a honey/cinnamon character to it as well. Actually smells like mulled cider! (Not my favorite for a beer).

Mouth is thin but with nice carbonation. (One might wonder about the carbonation from a bottle that didn't gush; perhaps less elegant than the one I had; but, having gushed - I liked the carbonation level).

Flavor profile is a simple sage, winter spice character without much appeal or character. If you like sage and winter spice, you'll love it; for the rest of us, not particularly attractive flavor profile.

Finish is short bitter green veggies.

Likely would not try again.

Strongly flavored with honey, just to start it off sweet, and herbs on top of that. Smells like sage and toast with honey. Golden color in the glass with uninspiring foam. Not very sudsy in the mouth.

The chamomile is quite strong. The herb flavors all seem to conflict. The honey flavor is quite sweet. Something is a little spicy. Not very beery. I think the flavors are just too intense and the stuff is too sweet. Maybe the combination could work with a more flavorful beer. Some herbal bitterness.

This is another one of those "if you like this sort of thing..." beers. Strong and distracting flavors. Not very drinkable. 22 oz bottle from Best Damn in San Diego.

New seasonal from the local brewery. Ale brewed with spices and honey at only 5.5%.

Look is of a pilsner, golden straw and clear. A huge white head makes for some lacing and a permanent ring.

Smell is as advertised, spices of clove, coriander, nutmeg and others. Honey sweetness, with a light fruitiness as well.

Taste is very similar to the nose, mellowed out a little. Sweet honey and spices.

Texture is light bodied, easy to drink and smooth. Borderline sessionable.

I don't know if I would categorize this as a APA, as there isn't much hop, but there is plenty of flavor. The spices are a tad heavy handed, but the beer is exactly what it says it is.

Pours a slightly murky honey yellow with a 1/2 inch foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, gain, honey, and a variety of garden spices. Taste is mainly of spices and honey up front that gives way to a sweet malt flavor on the finish. There is a very mild spice bitterness that quickly fades after each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an interesting spice presence but I think this one smells better than it tastes.

A - Pours a clear golden-yellow with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down very slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of lemon zest and other citrus smells with some coriander, sage, chamomile, honey, and other spices with some sweet bready malts.

T - Starts off with some lemon zest, orange peel, and other citrus flavors, with some honey, chamomile, and sage. Through the middle, the herbs get a bit stronger with some sweet bready malts coming through alongside. The finish is a mix of honey, sane, chamomile, and other other herbs, with some lemon zest and a touch of sweet bready malts.

M - Medium-minus bodied with heavy carbonation. Smooth with a spicy and herby finish.

D - Very drinkable. Nice spiced beer with a good balance of spices that are nicely balanced and not overpowering.

22oz bottle. No bottle date, but this is a new spring '12 seasonal from what I have read. Should be pretty fresh still. Poured into a large mouthed wine glass.

A: This one pours out a hazy, yellow/gold color. It's attractive for this time of year. Two fingers of bright white head. Tons of carbonation streaming off the bottom of the glass. Lots of tiny little bubbles. The head sticks around for pretty much the duration of the drink.

S: I get tons of those herbal hints that are mentioned on the bottle. Definitely some sage and coriander maybe. I am pulling an almost strawberry aroma, which is different and pleasant.

T: The flavor is right up front on this one. You get that spice bitterness right on the tip of the tongue. It almost causes like a ginger snap type flavor initially, that fades away after a while. My only knock on this one is that the flavor just falls off after the initial burst of spice and hops. I mean, completely flat with nothing on the back end.

M: This has a nice light mouthfeel. Perfect spring-summer seasonal. Light and refreshing. Lawnmower beer.

22 oz. bomber, picked up at the local Whole Foods,

A: Pours a clear goldenrod with a medium light white head, some nice lace.

S: Sage, very herbal, and honey. This smells like springtime, just lovely.

T: I was wondering how this would compare to their brewery only Spring Ale which was fantastic and rich with herb and honey flavours. Good direct bready malt flavours, hints of honey and sage. This is more to the English tilt of the beer spectrum.

M: Quite dry, considerable more than the Spring Ale. Refreshing, soft carbonation, crisp.

O: This is certainly a good beer, the flavours are solid, and the spice is nice. I miss the classic Spring Ale, perhaps they still have it on-tap, this feels like a dry facsimile. Don't get me wrong, it's quite a nice effort, but when I had the opulent honey character of the Spring Ale, that's what I would want to go into distribution.
