On tap at the Bootlegger's 5th Anniversary Celebration held at The Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, CA.
Billed as a smoked Scotch ale aged for 2 years in bourbon barrels.
Pours a murky brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with dark roasted malt, dark fruit, and bourbon aromas. Taste is much the same with sour fruit and vanilla flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of woody bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is definitely suffering from sort of infection issue but it isn't all that bad.
