Big coffee flavors dominate early only to be wiped out by an enormous about of Willamette hop flavors. One of GPBC’s most requested beers. Complex and full of flavor yet amazingly sessionable. Brewed with coffee from Primavera Coffee Roasters here in Birmingham, AL.

Pours dark with a little foamy head. Smells like malt and coffee. Tastes the same. Has some pleasant roast to it that provides some bitterness. Only knock on this one is that it is a little thin and watery. Otherwise though a very solid beer.

Pours a deep mahogany bordering on black with a tall, frothy, tan head that hangs around.

Big coffee, oats, and roasted malt in the nose. In the back is a slight herbal/floral hop bite.

Nice coffee, chocolate, and toasted bread notes up front. The flavor coats with a slight creaminess that disappears in the lively carbonation which ends with floral hop bite that is dry and crisp. A very solid stout for coffee lovers.

Good People Coffee Oatmeal Flavored Stout
12 oz. can

There's no secret to this one, it's coffee! It's got a coffee aroma like fresh brewed black coffee... probably the best coffee aroma I've found to date. Then the same follows through in the flavor with some sweet notes upfront and then a long, pleasant dry coffee finish. It's balanced and smooth. What I find odd is that it's labeled "flavored" despite the fact that they use coffee in the brewing process. Perhaps there are additional flavorings added? Regardless, it's brilliant.

12 ounce can into a snifter.

It looks how I want my stouts: frothy, dark khaki-colored head, abundant lacing, opaque body, dark brown and almost black in color. Slight deduction because I actually expected a darker body still. 4.75

Surprised that yeasty floral notes are the first thing I notice, followed by a chocolate chip cookie deal. Light coffee aroma. Not wowed but pleasant. 4

Yes! Plenty of coffee on the flavor though and this coffee has some depth to it. There's a light sweetness offering some vanilla and caramel, toasty nuttiness, dark chocolate and notes of floral and grassy hops. 4

Surprisingly bitter and a tad thinner-bodied than I'd prefer but I find myself slurping it down all the same. The floral bitterness lingers with coffee after an initial dose of sweetness and faint creaminess. 4

Enjoyable, light and easy-drinking.

Pretty solid . . . Nothing really exceptional stands out to me but there are some nice flavors going on. Mouth feel is little thin for my liking. The coffee addition has a noticeable bitterness finishing on the palate. Overall a very decent oatmeal stout.

Appearance: Black with a thick tan, three fingers of head. Some lacing.

Aroma: Some coffee and dark chocolate

Taste: A nice flavorful balance of dark chocolate and heavy roast coffee

Feel: medium body with light amount of carbonation

Overall: An excellent solid stout. Coffee brings a nice bitterness to it and there are some great chocolate notes.

Decent flavor. Not over the top coffee taste. Probably better when it's fresh. Samples received a little dated.

Excellent balance of black coffee with black malts, each jumps out while neither dominates. The coffee is a heavy roast, and the big bitterness plays well. There's a subtle, bready caramel undertone. But dark chocolate and roasted beans are the big flavors.

The beer comes in a reddish brown copper color.

The aroma hits of slight flaws of eggs, caramel sweetness.

The flavor does not have that strange flaw really, but instead has light roasted malt, cocoa, and lots of great stiff espresso coffee flavor. A really well integrated coffee beer, albeit on the lighter side of robust qualities at 6%.

A - Pours with a dark coffee color with a tan head that subsides to a couple of millimeters. Plenty of lacing on the glass

S - Coffee and roasted malts are up front followed by an aroma of figs and some dark chocolate.

T - Coffee and dark chocolate upfront. There is a hint of hops with some fig and licorice flavor.

M - A little thin but smooth and plenty of layers of flavor.

O - A very good beer. Definitely an upfront coffee flavor but the coffee allows some other flavors room to breath. A real nice stout.

After looking forward to trying this beer for a while, I have to say I did not enjoy it at all unfortunately. Looked like an average stout at the pour; trended toward dark brown hues rather than the pitch black color of other stouts. Aroma was faint coffee...not much else. Taste was extremely unbalanced to me: all I got from it was bitter, astringent coffee grounds. No oatmeal sweetness at all. Very chalky tasting and extremely thin bodied as well. I guess I was hoping for something along the lines of Terrapin WNB with this one and it just didn't come anywhere near stacking up. I have enjoyed other offerings from Good People, but this is by far the worst thing I have tried from them to date.

Rock solid look and smell, with coffee clearly dominating the profile. But that same domination in the taste isn't particularly pleasant and comes off as almost artificial. The mouth feel is also very thin and watery, which isn't what I want in an oatmeal stout. Not a bad beer by any means, but I was hoping for more.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a BrewDog cervoise glass.

Pours black and dark but with no head.
It smells enscorcelling. Rich and delicious and viscous. Loads of coffee. Licorice. I love it.
A tasty creamy body is rich and pleasant. Good hops (Williamette). Long finish. Licorice again. This is really nice actually.
Highly recommended. Will have again. Yummy.

from a 12 oz can
Excellent tan head over a nearly black and opaque body.

Has good potential but the coffee here is too much like mediocre coffee grinds and not enough like Kona or other fine coffee beans. In any case, there's a good bit of coffee in here so this won't appeal to anyone who does not like coffee.

Moderately bitter aftertaste with simulated expresso.

Pours deep dark brown, just about black, with a big chocolate head. Aroma is dark and roasty with the coffee being nice and present, chocolatey, oats give off some sugary sweetness, and closes out earthy and bitter. Flavor follows suit. I just wish they could have lowered the dosage of hops here, far hoppier than I enjoy in a stout personally. A creamier medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, a fantastic stout up until the hops assert themselves, making it is just a really good stout (for me). That said, the more I drink of this the less an issue the hops become.

Poured from 12oz can into a pint glass.

Appearance: rich, deep brown with just some highlights around the edges. Head pours two fingers of creamy tan foam with a nice retention. Quite attractive indeed!

Smell: rich and roasty with a nice sweetness and a fair bit of chocolate character. A bit like a sweet stout, but quite nice.

Taste: big and roasty, with lots of bitter, burnt character. Plenty of chocolate and coffee character come through, as well. I think it's darn good.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a nice, well-integrated carbonation and a concomitantly enticing creaminess.

Overall: this is a good beer. However, I feel like the roasty elements bring too much bitterness; good, but not outstanding when it comes to drinkability.
