A far cry from our original IPA, The Hitchhiker is a big floral/citrus American IPA. Aromas and flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, and tangerines take center stage with a tad bit of caramel malt backbone to balance just a bit. A very dry finish with hops flavors lingering...this one is for the hopheads.

Beautiful seasonal from Good People that I wish were an all-year-round offering. Incredibly balanced taste and mouthfeel leaning hard toward West Coast IPA sensibilities but with a wonderful tropical fruits hint which tempers the harshness.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with an impressive two finger cap; excellent retention and clumpy lacing

Smell: The big three elements of tropical, citrus and pine tones are all here

Taste: A lot of balance here with the tropical papaya and pineapple flavors mixing with the caramel malt backbone, at the outset; some grapefruit citrus tries to make a stand, in the middle, but the pine arrives to sweep everything to a well balanced but nicely bitter finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Neither West Coast nor East Coast (let alone New England), let's call this one a Gulf Coast IPA

New to me in a 12 oz sixer. Yes, more distinctive than the original IPA, but not so much that I’ll seek it out. Don’t understand the “outstanding” rating. Outstanding is Sixpoint Resin and Great Divide Titan in this class. Try either as a better alternative.

Had 16 oz draft, ale came amber gold color with an inch of white head. Smell of citrus and soft pine. Full flavored balanced malt and hops, not too sweet or bitter but very complementary. Finish was refreshingly bitter, Medium bodied, no alcohol in taste. Very well made IPA and a definite re-order.

I had this one at the brewery and liked it so much I brought a growler back to my hotel.

The beer a dark bronze with a thick tan head.

I like the aroma of pine, citrus and something that reminds me of apricot.

As expected, it is bitter but this beer is also balanced. Lots of caramel, citrus (primarily grapefruit) a bit of pine and then stone fruits. Its juicy but not overly much so.

The mouth is slick and coating in the best possible way. Carbonation is low but that’s ok with me.

The denizens of the Magic City should be happy to get this on a regular basis. I know I would be!

Soapy head and apricot opaque color. Aroma is caramel, bready malt, and pine. Taste follows the nose, but quickly disappears with no lingering bitterness or aftertaste. Mouthfeel is thin and watery with prickly carbonation. Harsh and not very balanced. Overall a rather unremarkable IPA.
